neptunepic 11 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Hi, I have Emby premiere and hdhomerun prime. Trying to watch live TV is proving to be quite unreliable. At least 50% of the time when I tune to a live channel I get no picture or sound, even though I can see the tuner is engaged on the hdhr prime. When I record shows to watch later there are no issues but watching live TV is super clunky. I'm running the latest Emby beta, latest hdhr beta. Any ideas?
Luke 42080 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Hi there @@neptunepic, we're very sorry to hear about this. In order for us to best help you, can you please discuss a specific example, and then accompany that example with the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks !
neptunepic 11 Posted April 19, 2017 Author Posted April 19, 2017 Hi, here are the logs. Again, the server is recording shows without issue, but I cannot watch live TV on any client even if I try to do so directly from the server. ffmpeg-transcode-b9da3c5c-8ba9-4108-a875-e0bb66278938.txt server-63628156800.txt
Luke 42080 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 hi, please try turning off the experimental quicksync feature. thanks !
neptunepic 11 Posted April 19, 2017 Author Posted April 19, 2017 And that solved the problem, thanks! So I guess the QSV feature isn't quite ready for prime time
neptunepic 11 Posted April 19, 2017 Author Posted April 19, 2017 Have other users been able to watch live tv using QSV? Not sure why it would work for some and not others. So far I've found QSV does not work at all with WTV (WMC) files, and does not work with live tv.
Luke 42080 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Well I'm not surprised about WTV. ffmpeg consistently has a hard time with those. from my experience over the past few years it seems as though the ffmpeg group does not give wtv a whole lot of testing time, because defects constantly come up related to wtv and then have to be resolved with future ffmpeg updates. So I would strongly suggest converting those to mkv or mp4.
neptunepic 11 Posted April 19, 2017 Author Posted April 19, 2017 Ok thanks. Any thoughts on the live tv issue with QSV? Is it because of the TS stream that QSV can't handle?
