Start on log in vs. service

The service can allow for not having to be logged in, yes, but unless you have a reason I would leave it alone.

One valid reason would be recovery after a reboot, either planned or due to a failure.

There would be a need to enable autologon, highly unusual for something called a server.

I'd be ok having autologon, assuming Windows Server 2012 will let me, as long as I boot into a standard user instead of one with admin rights.  To do what I need to, the server is going to have to access the web and download stuff sometimes.  I'd like to do whatever I can to protect it when doing so.

If I thought ahead, I should have installed it on a standard user from the start.  I just finished taking care of a problem where mediabrowser server was trying to open multiple times and would cause it to crash.  Now that it is working, I don't want to end up causing another problem installing it under another user id and want to make sure I go about it the right way.

I do this with my server. I use a program called auto logon and lock. When my Win 7 server reboots it automatically logs on the Admin account and locks the screen. I had to do this for software that does not support a service mode.

I'm running Windows Server 2012 R2.  Right now I have Mediabrowser server set to start when I log in and have the service disabled.  Everything works great right now, but I set up Mediabrowser using the Admin account and was not sure if it was a good idea to leave it logged in under that account all of the time.  I've seen it recommended other places that it would be better to set everything up under a standard user account instead.

If that is the case, would I be better off switching it to run as a service so I wouldn't have to be logged in, or should I uninstall and then reinstall under a different user?  Thanks

My main concern was security, and would have no other reason to run it as a service.  My best option then would be to uninstall Mediabrowser server from the admin account then reinstall under a standard user instead?  From another thread I think it was mentioned that it shouldn't be installed under two different users or it could cause problems

I may be running a few other programs at times that has me worried about the system security but want Mediabrowser to be running at the same time.  Thanks

What would be the reason for NOT running it as a service?

Just curious - I have done so from first install with no issues.

For what I read about it it's the autoupdate feature not working, but that can be fixed. Another thing is that it would require a bit more knowledge in terms if setting this up and getting all access rights correct.
