Question about my Emby Server

Howdy!

 

Had an issue today, I was adding a bunch of new movies to my collection, where I then noticed my server was starting to lag pretty bad and act weird. I checked the task manager (server 2012) and saw Emby was running 18GB of ram (server has 48GB). I tried killing the task through emby as well as through the command prompt (task kill force command) and nothing worked. I tried rebooting the server, but it sat for 15 minutes and never rebooted until I manually powered it down.

 

I did check everything else out, and nothing else was interfering with the system. Server is used exclusively for emby & nothing else.

I can tell it's not an Emby app due to RestSharp in the request headers. No emby app uses RestSharp, so I have no idea what that is.

Just as a reminder, when you install a 3rd party plugin, you see this (please read it):

 

 

When you allow a 3rd party application access to your Emby Server, the same idea applies.

Do you see anything else in the logs that may be of interest? I only bring this up because this isn't the first time I've been adding movies to the server, and emby hits about 17-18GB of RAM usage, and it causes my server to have an issue like this...... Yes I did just install Ombi a few days ago, but priror to that, that was the only program that had any API hooks into Emby

CoverArt also comes with a cost. You can try removing that. Many of those other plugins also hook into the library scan so that they can download metadata or files. You can try removing those as well.

I did just review all my settings and plugins..... nothing out of the ordinary in those regards. Hoping maybe the logs help give more insight? I try reading through them, but that is most certainly your strong suite luke

I will take that advice Luke, thank you. I'll assume that means you see nothing else going wrong in the logs. Let me see if I can pin point this, but it's not something that happens that often, but I'll do my best!

It's a C# library. We don't have any Emby apps that use C# for their http requests. I suppose the server could use it for it's outgoing requests, but generally I would rather use the framework classes directly than a higher level abstraction.
