Gifs not playing (appears to be server related, having difficulty diagnosing)

Alright let's start off: 

 

I'm running Mac OS Sierra 10.12.5.  Emby server Version 3.2.10.0.  Hardware: Mac Mini (Late 2014) 2.6ghz i5, 8GB Ram.

 

 

OK! So let me start off offering up a tasty unrelated bug: It appears that the system is unable, for some reason or another, to sync images out of dropbox folders on MacOS.  I'm not sure if this is a permissions error or what. Moving the files to another local folder not synced with dropbox eliminated the bug and the photos began to display.

 

However!  Many of the photos are gifs.  Which, of course, are refusing to animate at all.  I've made a passing attempt to diagnose this problem and here's what I've got.

 

Front end:  In the front end images that I know should be Gif images are displayed as PNG images.  Checking the inspector reveals that they're SUPPOSED to be placeholders until, and this is a guess, it looks like they're placeholders until the slideshow pauses on that image at which point it's supposed to lazyload the gif into place.  On safari, that results in the following in the console:

Not in that order necessarily.  The second TypeError happens every time the slideshow lands on a gif.  I also see a lot of "requesting URL without automatic networking" in the log.  

 

Checking the error logs doesn't give me a lot of useful info, but I do see one error kind of repeating itself.

Hi, the error you're mentioning above is only happening due to opening the browser debug console. We don't fully support animated gifs at this time. We do support adding them to your Emby library,  but as of yet we have not done any work on preserving the animation when displaying in Emby apps. It is a possibility for the future. Thanks !
