CBers 7451 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Looks like Emby suddenly won't update automatically. Any ideas? Not saying it's the same scenario, but I've noticed the same. But, whenever you open the Dashboard, there's an update available. This always used to work, but seems a bit hit and miss lately. Not running Emby as a service.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 The upgrade application doesn't even run for me anymore using Windows 2016 Server Essentials. The application usually errors out. My upgrade sequence has become: Download the new version from Github as a ZIP. Unzip Turn off the Service Overwrite the files in my directory. Restart the Service.
CBers 7451 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Something's gone wrong somewhere. I used to wake up to emails telling me that Emby had updated, but I get nothing now, but when I check the server, it's sitting there saying there's an update available. .
Happy2Play 9781 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Looks like Emby suddenly won't update automatically. Any ideas? "Please shutdown the server and update manually" you can only get this message if you are running Emby as a service. So you can use the script found here or run the application instead of service.
neptunepic 11 Posted April 11, 2017 Author Posted April 11, 2017 Advantages to running as service as opposed to default?
Happy2Play 9781 Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Advantages to running as service as opposed to default? Not having to login to the machine or leave a account logged in. Other then that nothing else.
GraTV00 0 Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 I run my server as a service too. I had skipped a couple of updates. The latest Android envy app update has forced me to update my server. I stopped the service, ran the update, stopped the desktop app and restarted the service. Unfortunately the system is still reporting the old version number and so my android app us still not working but using a browser is fine. Funny thing is if I stop the service and run the desktop app , it reports the correct version number but forgets all of my libraries, users and so is just as useless for my android app but also useless for browser access! Anyone got any ideas what could be going wrong and how to fix? Sent from my HUAWEI M2-802L using Tapatalk

If you are not, then it will install again in the currently logged in user's AppData/Local/Roaming directory.
GraTV00 0 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 ebr & Koleckai Silvestri, Thanks to you both - you diagnosed my issue correctly. Boy do I feel silly.
