all4dom 101 Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 I currently have version 3.2.10.0 for emby server and its telling me to manually download an updated version. I thought this was suppose to be automatic.
Dibbes 514 Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Not if you have the server running as a service. Then you'll have to do it manually
maegibbons 1287 Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Or you are running on a Linux derived distribution/NAS Krs Mark
all4dom 101 Posted April 8, 2017 Author Posted April 8, 2017 I have it running on win 10 pro. Ok thank u. If i upgrade, does it remove the old version?
Dibbes 514 Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 (edited) Only the folder "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\System" is overwritten. Personally I like to rename the system folder before I start the update process. That way I can easily roll back to a previous version. Edited April 8, 2017 by Dibbes 1

Why can't this be implemented into the installer and add an option in the server to roll back to previous version? Would save many users pain and a supported method to quickly roll back.
Luke 42085 Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 It's probably the same answer to the question why isn't everything I want done already ? 3

Actually the original system folder is renamed to system.old and the update is the new system folder so you always have the previous server also. 2

This week, with the stuttering issue, it happened that I rolled back 3 version numbers.
