Live stream *.stream extension

Recently my IPTV provider changed the link to the stream in the M3u8 from *.flv to *.stream. I don't believe anything else has changed other than the extension.  I've not familiar with the .stream extension or container however vlc is able to play these links just fine, Emby on the other hand fails to do anything when I start the stream other than a spinning indicator on screen. I don't even see any indication that the stream was attempted to be opened in the logfile.

 

An example of the link:

Hi

 

Cannot see any reference to a .stream attempting to be played in the log.

 

The Log is only 2 minutes long. Are you sure that a Live stream playback attempt was made in this time period?

Yep I did a server restart, attempted to start the stream, waited for about 20 seconds, then grabbed the log. Only got a spinning indicator, it didn't even switch over to the "black" player screen.
