horstepipe 422 Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 Hey I'm aware of this problem since I'm using Emby and it's no big deal, nevertheless some day it should get fixed :-) When a user logs in with a Kodi device, it happens quite often that he is being shown twice in server dashboard, one time with his device and one time with the device label of another user. I checked the device names in Kodi, they are different. Also I enabled the option in Emby for Kodi to use another device name and created a new device ID, but the problem persists. So there has to be some other identifier which is the same on both devices...? This would make sense because I setup each of these systems with a libreelec system backup so that I didn't have to start from scratch each time. Any ideas what else could cause this issue?

So sometimes I have to clear a list of 50 "HBOX" or something like that. Don't even know if it is related to Kodi or the Android below it. Hey @@Luke, any lore around this issue? The reported device id from the app must be changing, so the server is treating it as a new device.
Angelblue05 4132 Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Provide Kodi log for every instance you see a new device appear. Doubt the device id is changing, as it saves the device within the Kodi directory. The only way it would change is if you uninstall Kodi.

But when choosing "create a new device ID" in the plugin it should work, right?

You just want to make sure all your kodi devices have different device ids. If you copied the setup from one to another, you better make sure you use the generate a new id option, under the addon's settings > advanced. If you didn't copy your Kodi setup, then you should be good. Just check your kodi log when you see a new device be created and verify the device id that's in your log.
