do you think that's a waiting list as in the preorders are sold out? Or will they open preorders before the launch date?

Can I now buy a US one and have it shipped to U.K. And expect it to work?

What's my quickest way of getting one basically?

Pass :)

Apart from the Google Store, it'll be available from Argos, Dixons, John Lewis and Maplin, so you could try them.

Checked them all, no-ones taking orders yet. If anyone sees one of the uk sites taking orders could they post it here? Would be appreciated!

Google Home ordered!

Goodbye Alexa!

@@CBers why?

Why what? Goodbye Alexa?

Compared to the normal Google voice search on a phone, Alexa is very poor.

Google Assistant is/will be much better.

I just don't like how they look. It looks like an air freshener. And I really don't want to say "OK Google" all the time. Can you change that?

Why not just do whatever you need to do manually?

You mean type into a search engine or voice control?

Or just pick up the remote and press play.

Ha! Well I think most people want it to ask questions. As for voice control, that's just fun :D Truth be told, the way I operate, I'll always use keyboard and mouse. But it nice to ask for the forecast and other things like that. The biggest disappointment is that echo isn't DNLA. Is google home, DNLA? That would be a huge benefit for listening to your music in a remote part of the house.

@@CBers, why not use a keyboard and mouse like doofus?

Call me old fashioned but I like a remote. The first time the voice control didn't work, asked me to repeat what I said, or played the wrong thing it would be out of my home theater and into the trash. I mean the only time it would be helpful is when you have buttery popcorn fingers and don't want you get your remote all greasy  :P
