mentasm 43 Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 I've created a new topic as the one I had posted in previously seems to have a bunch of people with similar but different issues.. I have been finding that if I resume a movie or tv show the video starts again from the begining, but the progress bar shows where the resume should have started. If I try and skip forward or backwards while watching a video, it starts the video from the start. This is happening on pretty much any file I have, all downloaded. None ripped by me. mostly mkv or avi files, no dvd rip folders etc Based on advice from the other thread, if I install the latest LAV filters and start ET again, everything works as it should. Next day I come back and the issue is there again. My media centre backs up and reboots nightly. Have tried removing the folders that contain the LAV and other folders from the ET app data folders before and letting them re-download. Can anyone give me some advice on how I might fix this permanently? DO I need to provide any logs? 1
Luke 42079 Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Can we look at a specific example? Best thing to do is accompany that with the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Additionally, if you have undocumented customizations such as manual changes to the config file, or changes to the embedded versions of lav filters, then please undo those changes. Thanks !
mentasm 43 Posted March 28, 2017 Author Posted March 28, 2017 Here goes: Just resumed this mkv after a server and ET restart. AS you can see the progress bar shows about 75% done, but the video is starting from the begining, hence the netflix splashscreen I don't believe I am running any customizations. Attached are the server logs and ET logs If I run the LAV .069 installer with defaults and restart ET the same file resumes correctly. server-63626312065.txt theater-63626312155.txt
mentasm 43 Posted March 28, 2017 Author Posted March 28, 2017 (edited) Rebooting directly after the above and allowing emby server and ET to auto start as they do and the same file when resumed has returned to the behaviour of playing from the beginning of the file again. For the sake of testing I tried deleting the COmObjects folder and restarting ET. This also temporarily fixes the issue but again the problem returns after a reboot of the media centre Edited March 28, 2017 by mentasm
jordy 284 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I noticed this the other night also. Had to re-watch the 1st half of an episode... Will try again tonite and provide logs etc if still a problem.
Solution Luke 42079 Posted March 28, 2017 Solution Posted March 28, 2017 Would you mind please trying a complete uninstall and reinstall of the app? It will ensure you have the latest components. Thanks. 1
Guest asrequested Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Just the ET client? Yes. And playback with the default settings. That'll provide a baseline.
mentasm 43 Posted March 29, 2017 Author Posted March 29, 2017 Uninstalled. rebooted. installed from latest setup.exe on emby.media. Tested and video resumed OK Rebooted PC. Tested again. Working OK. Will monitor and see how I go 1

jscoys 147 Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 I have some videos which start from the beginning when seeking... do i have to uninstall completely ET, reboot, reinstall to make it works again? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Luke 42079 Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 @@mentasm @@jordy The next release of the app will feature improved performance, hardware acceleration, and better multi-monitor support. If you'd like to try it out ahead of time you can do so here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46763-theater-mpv-test/page-1 Enjoy. 1
