I have a folder with 803 titles but when I make a movie library it only pick up 756 titles. I have tried with a different folder, but same result. Its on a WHS11 machine setup with storage setup as windows software mirrored disks.

Any ideas?

Hi there, can you please discuss some specific examples?

Why do you think it has only picked up 756?

thanks !

Being honest, not really. It's an old installation and I also suspect the software mirrors. The emby-server has been a bit slow and inresponsive - but not using any cpu ressources. I wonder if I should reinstall emby to see if that clears the issues. And then also clear the 6 GB of cache it has generated.

Before this, I added a lot of new posters in the webinterface, and I know all movie folders had folder.jpg in them, but now a lot is missing. The backdrops are still there. Why is that? I can see on my concerts that EMBY has not saved the new folder.jpg to the individual concert folder???

What does the new checkbox with artwork means compared to poster and backdrop?

Is there a good way to make a clean install, or will uninstalling the server be enough to clean the system entirely?

I can see there is a scan error:

Cannot access a disposed object. Object name: 'SqliteItemRepository has been disposed and cannot be accessed.'.

But that is from yesterday. No error now.

It seems as the collections plugin was the culprit (and erasing it is a b, and it is only after you discover that it could be turned of) but there was a few problems with my collection.

Hi.  I don't think this is really a problem with the plug-in.  I think it was just your perception of what you were looking at. Luke asked the question of why you thought only that many movies were taken in.

The answer must have been that you were only looking at a count in a movie display screen.  That count would be telling you how many items were in the list and, if you had the option to collapse your movies into collections, this count would not match the total movie count (and shouldn't).

If you turn off the option to collapse movies, then you would have seen the count you were expecting.  However, I don't really think there was ever a problem here at all.  Simply a misunderstanding of what you were looking at.

Is that accurate?

Yes that is why I was asking those questions, because that's what I think is actually going on here.

Yes, that is what happened.

While we're at it, my collection is flushed with low res folder.jpg files and the backdrops are also fairly messy. Can I just delete all jpg files in the collection and then the sever will repopulate the images from the net, or is there a smart way to go about it? Preferrably I would like to change rhe low res images only.

What are you calling low res images?  Where did these images originally come from?

So if i understand this correctly, you enabled a setting, and then later it led you to believe that something was wrong with Emby.

How do we prevent this in the future @@Happy2Play?

I think we either have to just take away the collection grouping feature, or just not display the count of the list. If you don't see the count, then you never have an opportunity to think that something is wrong.

Absolutely not this.  This would kill the usability of the product for me.

If it's the default behavior you could change that default.  That would probably do the trick.  Have grouping into collections off by default though I've never understood the desire to use collections and not use grouping.

@@Deathsquirrel no need to worry. The feature isn't going anywhere. It was only brought up for the sake of discussion.

However, the setting is already off by default. That is the key point. This is something that we see occasionally unfortunately - user turns on advanced setting, later user forgets about it, and the behavior of the setting causes them to think something is wrong with the software (potentially causing them to stop using it). So that is why we try to be judicious about settings, in fact, the best solutions are the ones that don't require any.

I installed the plugin and then the wrong movie count lead me to belive that something was wrong with the collection. No need to change anything, but the text when installing the collections pluin: It should mention this and that it can be switched on/off in a setting.

And is there an easy way to delete all collections manually as uninstalling does not do that? I had to do it manually twice, as there seems to be two collection places: From home, chose the side bar and under media chose collections. The other is chose movies directly on the home screen and then collections. I manually deleted all entries in those two, before the movie count was rigth.

H2P: I had a friend keep a backup, but he used in with a NAS that put these low res in the collection. Low is below 500x750px.

Just delete the content in "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\data\collections". Edited by Happy2Play

The plug-in only creates collections.  The setting to collapse movies into them in the display is separate and completely independent of whether you use the plug-in or not.

I am a bit iffy with the way it handles images now. If I set to save it into the folders, then when it need the images, it spins up the disks to read them. But they are there even if the system disk fails.
On the other hand, I can set it no to, but then all the images are gone if the system disk dies, as far as I understand it.

Also if I delete the folder.jpg, Emby does not seem to acquire a new one primary image for the movie per default?

Refresh the title from the detail screen using the 3-dot menu.
