Advice needed on server folder structure

Hi

I am running MB3 server as a service on a separate PC to the client PC. I have a couple of odd examples of DVD layout that I am not sure of the best way to organize the folders on the server disc.

1) I have a DVD with a one-off, single episode TV documentary. Creating a TV structure of  documentary name > series 1 > documentary name s1e1  works but it looks like it needs several copies of the art work at each level to prevent the generic folder icon appearing. Should I just create a folder called documentary name and store the single video file, xml and folder jpg file all in the same folder?

2) I have a boxed set that includes a separate disc with lots of additional features like the making of x, interviews with y etc.

If I create a specials folder at the boxset folder level it is treated same way as a moviename folder. The downside is that there is no metadata  or art work available for these specials so I get lots of the generic folder icons. What is the best way to handle these discs of extras?

Many thanks

1) is your documentary listed as a movie on IMDB or TMDB? If not, you will need to manually set the metadata when it is indentified as a movie.

2) You're probably going about it the right way. Unfortunately, very little metadata is added for specials under many circumstances. Manual editing would be needed. However if they are longer specials or very popular, search for their names and if they have individual entries then put them in their own folders and point them by ID in the editor.

1) Alas no, the documentary is not listed in IMDB or TMDB. I edited the info field and added a folder jpeg using info from Amazon. I have deleted the series 1 folder and moved all the files under the parent documentaryname folder which seems to work. Is this a valid structure or should I put it back into a series 1 folder?

2) Thanks for the tip, I will try looking up the individual names for any metadata. At the moment I have just marked the specials folders in the boxsets as hidden in Windows, this keeps the client browser looking clean until I can sort out some metadata.

Having your documentary in the primary folder is something that should work.
