Pause TimeOut limit

I never said not to implement the feature. I  asked for it to be able to be toggle off. It's like the new auto logout screensaver on lg (unsure if it's everywhere), it's for me a pain but at least I found an exploit that make it 50% better.

But again, video playback pause use no resource except a bit of disk space if transcoding. Cou and GPU are doing nothing, ram isn't doing anything, even the hard drive aren't doing anything. If paused video is making your server running out of resource, you need to either upgrade or manage your ressource properly.

Thanks for the advice on resource management 👍

We just see it a bit differently and that’s fine. I still think the option would be really useful, especially if it worked like Plex where server owners can simply toggle it on or off depending on their preference.

Hopefully the Emby team considers adding it, as it is their decision at the end of the day.

Trust me, I know what you mean, haha. I do not understand it either, but it is annoying to see them paused for hours on end. To be honest, when it comes to some who are just forgetful in my family, I can't find myself being annoyed at them and bugging them about it. So, just like Plex, I thought that feature would be okay for those who would want to use it, and if not, just don't.

Jeesh I feel sorry for you. If that were my family's household and people were just leaving appliances on when they left, I'd just give them "a firm talk" if you catch my drift. It's not just Emby in that case but also electricity use and any unmonitored electronics are a hazard as far as I'm concerned.

In the end I absolutely agree with you though. This would also resolve the issue where certain devices just become "stuck" in their playstate (which is a known issue), causing them to be shown on the dashboard when that device isn't actually there anymore.
