nagetech 69 Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Howdy! This may or may not be a stupid question, but here we go..... \AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\ffmpeg\20160410\ffmpeg.exe I was going through my emby settings just to make sure I had everything just right, and noticed that (if I'm reading it correctly) the ffmpeg my server is using is from 4-10-2016? Does emby autoupdate ffmpeg for me, or is that something I should be updating and taking care of myself? Thanks in advance!
nagetech 69 Posted March 22, 2017 Author Posted March 22, 2017 Thanks for the answer! Is there any reason or benefit to use a newer version?
Sludge Vohaul 23 Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 (edited) Newer versions may have fixes for bugs which bugged you ever since. They also may have new bugs. It might be a good idea to check the changelog from time to time, but if your version does what you want, stay with it. Edited March 22, 2017 by Sludge Vohaul
nagetech 69 Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 Thanks for the insight guys I was curious as yes I do know new = sometimes fixes bugs (even ones you didn't know you had) and sometimes and it make new ones show up. I guess the whole original reason behind my post was to see if there were any huge benefits to a newer version that I wasn't aware of.... helped with transcoding...etc etc.... but doesn't seem like anyone is giving me a compelling reason to experiment with a new version.
