acnp77 67 Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) Hi I have problems playing my video files that are interlaced. Emby does not seem to recognize an interlaced video file correctly. Example: I add the following Video: 576i (PAL 4:3) / 25fps / H.264 encoding / mp4 container / filesize: 1.7 GB (IMHO The File was generated correctly with Lightworks, and I know that H.264 and mp4 container can handle interlaced video very well) But Emby shows "interlaced: no" (See screenshot) According to the log the file is eligible for DirectPlay: Path: \\x.x.x.x\the_panos_family\video\1_Hi8_Alexander_Kanti-Baden_M (Edit)_1.mp4, isEligibleForDirectPlay: True, isEligibleForDirectStream: True But when I try to play to file on Iphone or Ipad (safari) I get the following error: "There was an error playing the video" Also in this context i get the following in the log: "HTTP Response 206 to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" (meaning the server is delivering only part of the resource due to a range header sent by the client) -> IMHO Emby should recognize that the video is interlaced. Then maybe Emby could recognize that the file is not eligible for directplay on ios safari and ffmpeg could transcode. The way it is now Emby "thinks" it can directplay but it can not, hence the error. On Desktop Firefox and also on Kodi-Client it works great. (But these clients can handle interlaced content) Thanks for your input. Cheers Edited March 21, 2017 by acnp77
Luke 42086 Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Interlaced detection is never perfect, however the next version of the app will automatically switch to transcoding when direct play fails so that will take care of it. thanks ! 1
acnp77 67 Posted March 21, 2017 Author Posted March 21, 2017 Cool! Thanks! When you say "the next version of the app" do you mean emby-server version or do you mean the ios app? Cheers
