deaerator 2 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I plan on constructing a nas next week, and plan on using some form of open source linux for the OS, so far I am thinking about Unraid, or expenonlogy. or do a complete install with debian and use snapraid. It will be trial and error for sure. Curious of a couple things. 1.What kind of experience do people have with using Unraid or other software out there? 2. I really love the feature of mounting and streaming blu ray, (thumbs up for that work). My question is, Will the linux version of the server have this support. 3. I know this seems like a curse word over here but wondering what is the chances of getting an equivalent to "my plex" or the ability to play any on devices from anywhere without hurting the brain.
ebr 16169 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 We already have the ability to play on just about any device just about anywhere...
Luke 42077 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Yea the linux version has the iso mounting feature. We're still going through the testing process but hope to have an official release downloadable from the website within a couple weeks.
deaerator 2 Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) I should clarify on my last question I share my private server out to some family members via web browser and without me being present I was able to take advantage of the "MY PLEX" feature where they just had to create an account and sign in and and start viewing tv shows or my movies. Is there a way to configure this option with out my presence or with little computer knowledge on a remote device for them? Edited February 8, 2014 by deaerator
Luke 42077 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 We don't have that right now but we do hope to find a way to make that very easy in the future. In the meantime you can just give them the external web client url.
