godbodian 57 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Supper people. Recently (like a week ago) I purchased a new 50" Vizio SmartTV from my local store. The main reason I bought this one is, Chromecast makes my Emby setup a touch easier. Initially, everything worked like a charm but now we can't even use it. Here's what I've noticed (also I'm sorry if this is in the wrong Forum section); The connection seems prohibitively slow. Meaning if I utilize the cast function within Android app (or any cast function) itself once I select that TV set, the app will appear as if there's no connection for about 10 to 15 seconds. Then the "cast" icon will turn green with the TV identity next to it. This "slowness" is what the plagues the connection in the VAST majority. This is even more exaggerated with regard to transcoding video, which adds poor picture quality into the mix of intermittent/constantly buffering video. If there's NO connection, I literally either have the reset the TV to factory and start over or turn away from the "cast" feature on the TV set, to get it to reconnect. I've done a brief search of the forums and found somewhat similar issues but also posts that direct my issue to the network itself. If anyone can give me a clear cut solution, that would be GREATLY appreciated. (On a side note: I just realized that I've been an "EMBY" supporter since the first iterations of MB2. Look how far you guys have come. Keep up the GREAT work.)
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Is your television connect via WiFi or ethernet? I have a similar television. It is connected via ethernet and I don't see a delay using the Emby iOS app.

It is connected via ethernet and I don't see a delay using the Emby iOS app. It's connected via WiFi. So you're saying it's more likely that it's network related? If it is, that sucks because I don't have any other option. But here's the additional rub. I have two Chromecast (2ndGen) dongles and they work fine. It's just the new TV and all three devices are on my router's 5G network. Dammit. Anyone know what I can do to remedy this? Edited March 17, 2017 by godbodian
Luke 42077 Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Once you click the button, it's normal for there to be a 5-6 second delay for the connection to complete, and then the icon lights up. 15 seconds is unusual and to be honest I don't think I've seen it take that long before.
JoshuaAJones 68 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 My parents have a Vizio (bought last year) and it has Plex built-in (so we use it there). The wifi was so poor that we were constantly having to restart the TV. The router is on the other side of the room, no walls in the way. From another room, I could cast Emby to Chromecast with no problems, no lagging. I seriously believe that the Vizio "Smart" features that run wifi and the apps are lacking. In other news, my in-laws bought a new Samsung, I loaded the Emby app from the store, and OMG... perfection! I can't tell you how elated I was during that trip.
