PenkethBoy 2068 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 I have updated several video files with extra metadata and hit a couple of problems Problem 1 If i add the video to a Library - i.e. its a new unknown file then some of the extra metadata is picked up from the file and Emby is updated with the new info Changes detected Title, Genre, Year Changes "missed" Artist (actors) TVNetwork (studio/Publisher) AlbumArtist Album Comment Publisher So i dont have to waste loads of time is there a list of what is imported somewhere? Could some or all of the above be added to the new file scan so the info is imported? Problem 2 However - if its an existing file which is already in the Library - then none of the new info is picked up i have tried a refresh - replace metadata and search for missing metadata as well as a rescan without success If this by design - to preserve "existing metadata"? If so can we have an option to "rescan the Media" to pick up changes? Thanks
Luke 42080 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 In my testing, for new files imported, all embedded media info is utilized unless it is trumped by the presence of nfo or internet metadata. For existing files - we don't keep track of where your original metadata came from, so just because the file changes, we can't predict that you want the embedded overview to overwrite the existing overview in your database. For example, maybe you hand edited the overview in Emby, and that would be lost if we replaced it with embedded info.

The file i was testing was as a new import - there is no internet data ( lookup is turned off for the library) - so there is no existing metadata for emby when the nfo is created so nothing to conflict What metadata fields did you test - are you able to get actors to load ? What fields are matched to what in Emby?
