fonzie 22 Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 I love using Emby and I especially love how well it integrates with Kodi via the official addon. I do have one request/suggestion that would make it even sweeter in my opinion (and maybe others as well) Keeping my database synced between Kodi and Emby is a thing of marvels, the only thing that is missing is having the Emby addon cache the chapter thumbnails for movies and tv shows. As of now, when playing a movie through Kodi you can select chapters, however, the thumbnails that Emby grabs do not appear. I'm not sure if these are stored in a separate location from all the other metadata or what the reason is, but Kodi is not able to locate them with this addon. Having this addition, would make this addon just perfect. Let me know if it is possible. thanks.

So either my thread title was completely uninspired or I have some privacy settings configured incorrectly and no one can see this post. Angelblue05 4132 Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 (edited) For chapter thumbs to work you need to use the native playback mode in Emby for Kodi. There is a kodi limitation where it doesn't load chapter thumbs if the path to the file is not local/network. If you are using addon playback, the path is a plugin one. Changing to native mode playback then resetting your database to import your file actual paths should resolve this. You won't be able to remotely play/transcode or make use of emby cinema features, but that will give you max compatibility with Kodi.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited March 30, 2017 by Angelblue05
fonzie 22 Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 Yep, I figured that out after a bit of research. I thought I had come back to update this. You must change the playback from "addon" to "direct" and completely re-import your library. You lose the abilit to transcode onto Kodi as well as using Emby's Cinema Mode but I was willing to forgo those in favor of chapter thumbs.
