Spinner410 0 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 When I go to my movies folder through the library and through the Roku, most of my movies do not have posters but instead of screenshots or the movie's logo.I have deleted this folder from the library many times and it happens every time I re-add it with a content type of movies. This only just started happening recently and it only happens in this folder.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 It would appear the primary images are missing and Emby is falling back to thumb/landscape images. What images are in the the folders that are missing posters? Probably have to post a server log also.
Spinner410 0 Posted March 9, 2017 Author Posted March 9, 2017 (edited) The poster images are missing but why are they missing? There is nothing in that folder except images Emby has scrapped. By looking at the nfos associated with the particular movies that are missing posters, you can clearly see it is looking for a file which doesnt exist in the folder. So why is that? Side note: there isn't an option to turn on or off poster images in the metadata settings in the dashboard either. Here are my logs: server-63624667355.txt Edited March 9, 2017 by Spinner410
Luke 42078 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Let's look at an example movie. What images are in the movie folder? can you show a screenshot? thanks !

Luke 42078 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Well, let's learn why he thinks that. @@Spinner410, what has led you to believe there is no option to turn off poster image downloading?
PurposelyCryptic 31 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 I'm not sure if this is related, but after browsing to my movie library (In the Chrome Webapp) for the first time in a while today, I found that it doesn't properly load all the posters, and when trying to select one of the posterless entries, Emby Server essentially hangs - it won't load any other page, and if I have the metadata manager open in another tab, it stops reacting as well (I get the big spinning circle of doom). Just checked, and same for the Dashboard. I can still restart the server from the icon in the taskbar, but nothing else works). Here is an image of the library view: All the associated Movies and Collections have valid metadata and images, and it worked fine the last time I browsed the library. I'm running Emby Server Version 3.2.7.0 Beta. I've attached the latest log, going from restart to hang. server-63624671122.txt

For faster image performance, try uninstalling the cover art plugin. Roger on being unrelated, but I don't think that's the cause either - I recently added an entirely new library with over 500 items, and it took all of 2 minutes to load the posters, complete with coverart treatment - my movie library only has 120 items, and it froze up Emby for over 30 minutes before I restarted, and there was 0% CPU usage for the duration. It's not overloaded, it's just hanging. All of these movies have been there for quite a while too, and I have never seen this issue before (Including when I rebuilt my 1k+ Anime library some time back). Anyway, I'll try to figure this out myself for now, and open up a new thread if I'm still stuck in a few days. @@Spinner410, sorry for unintentionally posting on what turned out to be an unrelated issue in your thread, and I wish you best of luck with your actual issue! Edit: OK, so problem solved, seems it was CoverArt related, just in a different way - it seems at some point CoverArt defaulted to the "Collage" treatment for Collections/Boxsets, which are in a 16/9 aspect ratio and not suited for use in the Primary Image/Poster slot. I'm guessing trying to cram a square peg into a round hole caused everything to bug out, as switching the treatment to a basic like "Diamond" cleared it up. Either that, or the CoverArt-generated collage image created a conflict with the Collection image Emby pulled from TMDB/FanArt.tv. Either way, all's well that ends well, sorry for taking up your time. Edited March 9, 2017 by PurposelyCryptic
