Upload photos and configuration settings

Hi,

I've setup camera uploads, and defined a custom upload path. Selected create a sub folder for each device.

But I've enabled it on my Note4 and it's created all folders from the device in the base folder and no sub folder.

So I have to specify a specific folder at the device level? If so, what's the created sub folder option meant to do?

Further more, is there a way to limit/select the folder (s) it syncs? As it's currently copying any and all folders with a image. Which isn't always wanted.

Hi, on the device you don't have to do anything other than enable it. Does this answer your question?

As far as limiting the folders that it syncs - yes we'd like to add that ability in a future update. thanks !

But it's put all the folders into the defined custom path without a sub folder for the specific device.

Example:

//Server/Emby

Is my custom top level folder address.

Which when I'd expect a sub folder for the note 4 to be created and then any further folders for that device created.

//Server/Emby/Note4

//Server/Emby/Note4/camera

//Server/Emby/Note4/Facebook

But it's created like

//Server/Emby/camera

//Server/Emby/Facebook

Etc

Look forward to selection option, Cheers.

If you go back to that config page, is the option checked?

Yes the, create a subfolder for each device is checked.

This is on server 3.2.5.0 and Android Emby 2.8.78

Thanks, I see the issue. It is only using the subfolder when you haven't set a custom upload path.

I've only set it at the global level, not at the individual device level.

What do you suggest I do, to achieve the desired outcome?

You'll need to wait for the next release of Emby Server. thanks.

Ah ok, Fair enough.

I'm on holidays and thought I'd try that feature, for the first time.

On a side note, it doesn't appear to be picking up any media from the SD card. Which is the primary storage for my camera. It's gotten the local storage.

Might be an app permission issue, as I know Android is pretty diligent with SD access to third party applications?

It doesn't scan the entire device for photos, rather it just looks for photos in a system defined photos folder.

Strange is taking photos from subfolder of local, like Facebook, screenshots, etc. But it seems to have only uploaded those stored locally.

The in built gallery can see the SD stored items. It might be a timing issue, as I'm reviewing this upload progress via my MyCloud app and it's being uploaded via a cruise internet stream.

To follow up, I have a "camera" named folder in local with a few photos. But the main DCIM "camera" named folder is on the SD card. Emby app appears to copy the local camera folder contents, but nothing from the /storage folder and contents.

Noticed up to 3.2.7.0, does that address the current issue here? I also can't see the section for the custom path now for uploaded paths.

At the individual device I can specify, but notice is says need to be setup in libraries. I've never had the upload point defined as an accessible library. do I need to now? But when I tried to setup a new photo library using android mobile app, when I click OK button nothing happens.

Ah had to update the mobile app. I now notice it's created the new device folders under the custom path. Which I now guess will try and duplicate the whole uploaded content to that new folder from my phone?

Can I just copy the individual folders to that sub folder and it'll be smart enough to ignore a reupload?

Final question, notice a new library of Camera Upload for user access, where is that accessible in the front end UI?

@@Rumbaar, yes you can copy the images. what the instruction means is that if you define a custom path X for camera upload, then you also need to make sure path X is added in Emby library setup if you want the folder to show up in Emby apps. Does that answer your question?

Thanks for that.

A few things I've noticed, that I hope can be fixed/addressed.

When you setup a new device and change its name it creates a new folder. Can there be a maintenance routine to move/rename the original folder and contents into the new one.

Also what is the logging to determine what has been already uploaded? As I've had corrupted images uploaded, and I've deleted them at the server level. But there didn't seem to be a method to ensure EMBY reuploads the missing image.

It's there a plan to do videos as well?
