Jack Burton 98 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I've been going through my server and adding ebooks, comics, and audiobooks, all of which require require editing of images, info, etc. I'm wondering if info can be saved locally? Here's what happened: I was adding info to each individual item in books. I added synopsis, website link, years, etc. My folder structure was author>series>book>book file. I decided the author folder was one step too many, so I got rid of it and moved everything one step back. Since emby did a rescan, now all the info I added is gone. Images are fine, which are saved locally, but where was the info stored, and can I get it back? I'd rather not go through all the effort of adding the info again until I can be sure it's not going anywhere.

Below is the wording for this selection in each library you have set up under MANAGE FOLDERS selection. Save artwork and metadata into media folders Saving artwork and metadata directly into media folders will put them in a place where they can be easily edited. If you select this option for a library collection and SAVE, it should place an NFO file or perhaps an XML file in each media folder entry that can be opened and edited with something as simple as a text editor, such as Notepad in Windows. This should also help with your situation of moving items around, or changing folder structure. Once the metadata is local it will stay with your edits, even if you choose to move them around. Jack Burton 98 Posted March 6, 2017 Author Posted March 6, 2017 Thanx, I checked my libraries and they're all checked off to save metadata into folders. Everything works fine for tv, movies, and music, but ebooks, audiobooks and comics don't get an nfo file. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that emby can't auto grab any info for those types. Maybe manually entering info doesn't get saved properly, i dunno.
Luke 42078 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 We don't currently have an nfo for books so the data for those will just go into the database. it's probably a good idea to think about having one.
