RanmaCanada 500 Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Hey peeps, lately I have been having an issue with one of my users trying to sync files to their device, and this person is doing entire libraries of stuff. Problem is, EVERYONE has sync and transcoding disabled, and yet still I wake up every morning to my C drive full because my server decided to convert entire gob loads of files. I've looked through my server logs and I can't find any lines which stated which user initiated the job, even though every single person has that option disabled! Can someone point me in the right direction on what logs, or what type of entry I should be looking for. It's really frustrating. Thanks for your time.
Luke 42086 Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 It looks like we don't currently display that anywhere, but in the server dashboard you can see them broken down by device. hopefully the device will at least provide a clue.
RanmaCanada 500 Posted March 2, 2017 Author Posted March 2, 2017 Sadly it is not. Ah well just means I have my work cut out for me.
RanmaCanada 500 Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 So still having the problem and it's getting frustrating haha. Is there an easy way to find the user who is starting the sync jobs? It makes no sense because I have sync totally disabled and yet still this morning I woke up to sync jobs being done, but there are NO jobs in the sync area of the dashboard. But the other side of things, the convert media tab is available in the sync jobs area of the dashboard. I am perplexed.
Luke 42086 Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 the server dashboard will show them broken down by device. hopefully the device will at least provide a clue. for the next release of emby server we'll make sure the user policy settings are being respected.
thynan 6 Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) Hi, I have a similar problem. I disabled "synching which requires transcoding" for all users, but still, the "convert media" task is running, and converting what seems to be random movies. I can see no syncjobs in the server dashboard, so I don't have any idea where the convert media jobs could come from. In the logs there is also no clue to what started the convert media job. For now I think I will just let the convert media job run its course, and then delete the converted media manually from the sync folder, and hope it won't start again. edit: I upgraded to 3.2.5.0 two days ago, so maybe it has something to do with that? never happened before as far as I can tell. edit 2: after one hour of converting, i am at 0.1%.. seems like I have to find a way to remove the syncjob. Is there any way to find and remove the job when it is not shown in the server dashboard? Edited March 4, 2017 by thynan
Luke 42086 Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Hi @@thynan, the next server release will resolve the issue of the sync transcoding permission not being respected. thanks !
