JulesC 51 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 I'm trying to access the "Metadata Manager" from the Emby Server Dashboard. It says it "Loading...", but it's been running for 15+ minutes with no success. See attached log file. Let me provide some background: I'm migrating from "My Movies" to Emby. Emby Media Server is installed on Windows Home Server 2011 The Movies and TV Series are stored in Video_TS format (full copy of DVD) with NFO files associated to each Movie and TV Series I added a library for the TV Series, but I'm not certain that it scanned the NFO files. The library just show images of the TV Series itself vs. the art cover I was expecting. I realize the Video_TS support in Emby might be hit or miss, but I wanted to give it a try so I can view the full quality of my Movies and TV Series. FYI - I have this working for Movies/TV Series that I converted to .mp4, but was hoping to get the Video_TS format working. Since I'm also testing Kodi 17 & Emby Home Theater, is it possible for Kodi to read my NFO files from the sync between Emby and Kodi? Please let me know if you need any additional information. Thanks for any help with this. server-63623872573.txt
Luke 42083 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Hi, it seems OK here in my testing. Are you able to use the single item edit function? Try right clicking a video -> Edit Info.
JulesC 51 Posted February 28, 2017 Author Posted February 28, 2017 (edited) Hi, it seems OK here in my testing. Are you able to use the single item edit function? Try right clicking a video -> Edit Info. Hey Luke, Yes, I can right click on a video --> Edit Info, but the info is not the same from the NFO file. Attached are screenshots of what my TV Series screen looks like for series I added as MP4 vs. Video_TS. I was hoping the end results for Video_TS would be the same as MP4. My naive understanding is that Emby will let you choose where they should look for metadata for a movie or show, and you can choose multiple options. IMDB, NFO files etc. So the primary option I would like to set is XBMC NFO importer, so first it looks for an NFO file (created by My Movies), if none is found it moves to the second metadata tool such as IMDB. So I save XBMC / Kodi NFO files from MyMovies, and Emby picks up that info and uses it for its Metadata. Is my understanding accurate? How can I set the primary metadata option to XBMC NFO importer? Do I need to do this from the Metadata Manager? If so, I'm unable to launch it...it just hangs - see original post & log file please. I'm sorry if I'm not presenting this need the right way. Let me know if you have any clarifying questions so you can better understand what I'm trying to accomplish. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Edited February 28, 2017 by JulesC
Luke 42083 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Nfo is the default out of box so there's probably nothing you need to do, unless you previously customized metadata settings.
JulesC 51 Posted February 28, 2017 Author Posted February 28, 2017 (edited) Thanks, Luke. No, I didn't customize the metadata settings. So there's nothing I need to do to set the primary metadata option to XBMC NFO importer? Just want to make sure Emby's importing the "XBMC NFO" files created by My Movies. Can you help me why its' not working as expected and/or what I need to do to make it work? Edited February 28, 2017 by JulesC
Luke 42083 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 First I need to understand what the problem is. can you show a screenshot and walk me through it? thanks !
JulesC 51 Posted March 1, 2017 Author Posted March 1, 2017 Luke, I think I have two separate issues going on, so let me focus on one within this thread: Metadata Manager not launching and I'll open another thread for the other issue I'm encountering. I launched the Metadata Manager, it ran for 30 minutes this morning and never launched. Please see the attached screenshot and server log. Let me know if you need anything else. Thank you. server-63623923199.txt
Happy2Play 9783 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 OT: Please disable "Enable automatic port mapping" Dashboard-Advanced-Hosting to eliminate the "Error PortMapper: Error creating port map: One or more errors occurred." errors.
JulesC 51 Posted March 1, 2017 Author Posted March 1, 2017 OT: Please disable "Enable automatic port mapping" Dashboard-Advanced-Hosting to eliminate the "Error PortMapper: Error creating port map: One or more errors occurred." errors. Happy2Play, thank you for your response. I made your suggested change, but the "Metadata Manager" is still not launching. Attached is a new Emby server log. Any idea what I can do to get it to work? Should I keep "Enable automatic port mapping" disabled? Thank for any help from this forum...greatly appreciated. server-63623968541.txt
Luke 42083 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Can you try removing all plugins and see if the issue persists? Also as a test, can you try another browser? Thanks.

It's unrelated, you don't need to worry about that.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 You don't appear to have it enabled on your router, so it continues to error out in your log. Nothing to do with your current issue. Most people manually setup port forwarding so I would just leave mapping disabled.
JulesC 51 Posted March 1, 2017 Author Posted March 1, 2017 Happy2Play, you're right, I don't have port forwarding enabled on my router as I do not enable access to outside networks - at this time As always, I appreciate your assistance.
JulesC 51 Posted March 1, 2017 Author Posted March 1, 2017 Can you try removing all plugins and see if the issue persists? Also as a test, can you try another browser? Thanks. Luke, thank you. Switching browsers fixed the problem. Now I can run "Metadata Manager" and it launches very quickly. Learning's for others: I have Emby installed on a Windows Home Server 2011, which has an older version of Internet Explorer running (at least in my case). Once I downloaded Google Chrome, all is good. So for now on, I will access the Emby Server Dashboard via Google Chrome. Hope this is helpful.
Luke 42083 Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Thanks @@JulesC, yes IE11 is the minimum supported version.
