Metadata and updating

Heres the whole story so theres background on issue.

Running v. 3.1.2, updated from 3.0.7200. NO check mark for auto update. Updated to 3.1.5 and forgot to take check mark out. Server auto updated, (problems started), playback issues, no vid but audio, and a weird metadata thing. A show from mtv cxalled FURTV, and/or, SCREAM TV SERIES. It took my full tv show library and made 1 tv show out of 8000+ episodes. SCREWED !! Updated to 3.2 something. Same problem. Uninstalled emby, but it doesnt uninstall everything.I removed it from reg and user/roaming and user/local. Nothing in program files or program data. Re-installed 3.2.5 and i must've missed deleting something, a few setting are still there from previous version settings. ?? WTF ?  Been in metadata manager changing names and deleting references to furtv and scream tv series, went into metadata folder on hd and deleted pics from scream and furtv. And my tv folder is still high jacked.

Heres the 2 questions :

Where are all the places emby files install to, and all reg entries ?

How do i get my tv folder back ?

Hi @@x88dually, unfortunately this report is toned more like a rant so I'm having a hard time understanding. Since you uninstalled, did you add your TV library to the new installation?

Posted (edited)

not a rant. back ground on what is happening with days of frustration. (since friday)

ran media scan and chapter ext on every version on every install

On each new install there are still files that didnt get uninstalled and deleted. How do i know this , after each install and library scan, some movies and shows once again show me resume points, and furtv image as tv folder image, and Scream: tv series as wording for furtv folder.

All Emby components install under a single folder (Emby-Server) and we don't put anything in the registry (other than whatever Windows puts there to track the installation itself).

Posted (edited)

not to sound insulting or an azz, but.....

how are there still remnants of older installs showing on a fresh install ? (checks in green circle, numbers in green circle with exact # of episodes left in series, exact time to resume an episode, then on config after install, a few settings were already done in transcode , dlna, and advanced settings, an in libary/advanced, it knew where the metadata path was ).

I love the software and not trying to start an arguement, insult or piss anyone off !!

When you clicked Uninstall did you select the additional option for "All Traces"?

i put checks in everything each time

Only thing you can do is ensure the Emby-Server folder doesn't exist after the uninstall.  Are you restoring anything with the Server Configuration Backup plugin?

after uninstall, i manually delete files from hd and reg.and use IObit sys cleaner, the micro$$ hd cleaner, then defrag. Each and everytime.  Fresh install, no back up config anything.

And still it keeps a few settings from old install.

Don't see how it is possible since the information is not stored anywhere but the install folder and any custom paths you change from default.

This can not happen unless you are not uninstall everything or you are restoring this stuff with the Server Configuration Backup plugin.

I would ensure Emby doesn't exist on the computer then make a folder anywhere and install the portable version there.

And you think the portable version (in different directory) will eliminate the furtv image and scream:the tv series wording and grouping all tv episodes into its own folder ?

I guess we need to see exactly what you are talking about.  But from what you just posted my guess is nested tv series structure that is being mis-identified.

Make sure you don't have any Series.nfo files where they shouldn't be.

files are hidden files, not in media folders.  So i have to check every series in every season folder ?

What is your TV folder structure?  Screen shots are best.

Is it nested in any way (ie Shows\scream\Scream Queen?  This example since Scream is nested Emby treats it as a series and messes everything up in that folder.

TV array-------Media / TV / a show name / season # / episode.

Movie array---Media / Movies / movie names

Movie array---Media / Movies / 3D / movie name

                                                  / Comedians / Movie name

/ Movie Sequels / movie collection name / movie names

                                                  / Dogs / movie name........home movies of my 3 GSD's about 300 gig's of furry fun....lol

Thats how each raid array is structured.

dont know how to do screen shot and dont have anything to do it with, sorry.

I dont even have the show Scream, Scream movies or Furtv, thats the screwed up part.

Only way to figure out the issue is going to be screenshots of these specific examples you list.

I would first start with screenshots of your how you setup your Libraries in Emby.

under libraries where you add folders to be scanned into library :

K:\Media  click add, done, next folder

M:\Media

L:\Media done, click save

an the rest is above.

should i go into every season folder looking for series nfo files ?

That is the issue.  Media\TV should be the folder.  Your creating a nested environment.

Unless you are using Unset/mixed library content type.

Sorry, it is tvshow.nfo but I think happy is on to the right reason.

If you can show the same screen shot that he did of his library setup it would be much clearer what is going on.  Thanks.
