Did I break the Emby Connect relationship to my server?

Recently, some family members started reporting 'I cannot watch anymore'.  So I went to one of their houses to check it out.  What seems to be happening is their connect accounts no longer connect to my server.  If I sign in to connect I see this:

No servers are available to connect to. If you've been invited to share a server, make sure to accept it below or by clicking the link in the email. 

 

I looked around but I don't see how to troubleshoot this or fix it.  Other than recreating my connect to server relationship.  And I am afraid if I do that I will have to re-invite everyone.  Most of my family has no idea and I have to drive all over doing this for them.  

 

So, have I just don't something stupid or did something break?  I did not make any changes.  Things have been going fine for a long time and then this.  Also, some, with Roku's are getting asked to go to emby.media/pin and put in the PIN code.  When we do this nothing happens.  It does not move on like it should.  The emby pages gives a PIN verified message but on the device, it never moves forward.

 

I have a feeling the answer to this is going to be a palm to the head but I am kind of confused since I didn't change anything and even my account does not show my server even if it did, the problem would manifest as not connecting.

 

-BTW - if I bypass connect and do manual server config, and put in my fqdn and port, it works.

It sounds like the users somehow were I associated with your server. Did you do a reinstall or something? I'm not aware of a way to fix this except reinvites.

No reinstall.  The users all have connect accounts and had accepted invitations to my server.  I had everyone trained to choose log in with connect, click my server name, and they would be good to go.  But the first symptoms were they would click my server name and get an error not found.  I then removed the server from my Emby profile on my phone and then relogged in using connect.  Now no server at all.  

 

I dread having to get everyone re-invited and all that so I will wait to see if anyone else has a less painful suggestion.  Is there a way to confirm the relationship between my server and the Emby Connect associated?

 

At the top of this forum window is a blue Emby Connect button.  If I click it, I go right into my server.  Granted, earlier in Chrome I did a manual connection.  But, it does say 'Emby Connect' and if I go to my profile in the upper right, below settings, where it has my username, if I click server it shows my server name.

 

I still think I've done something stupid and messed things up.  Although, I am wondering about all the PIN verification prompts and the most recent one's not working on the Emby side yes, but the Roku never advances.

Yes go to your user management in the server dashboard and see if those users have cloud icons over them.

Was just testing this to see if I could lose the test guest account I have by unlinking the linked Connect user.  But guest account remained and was still able to connect with no cloud icons.  Even restarted server with no change.

 

@@tobias-tobin are all your guest accounts still listed in user management?  Do you have one user linked (cloud icon)?

 

Only way I could have guest disconnect was to manually delete the linked server.

Once I relinked a user to Connect, the guest account was removed, forcing re-invite.

 

 

I believe the re-invite was required because I manually deleted the server for that user.

 

I repeated the process of adding a guest unlinking Connect user and relinking user and Guest remained.  Unless it is just a timing issue.

I will check on what you both have said.  And please, it is Sunday evening.  This can wait.  You devotion to support is second to none.  

 

To answer your question, everyone has a cloud icon over their profile image except myself, my wife, and two guest accounts.  

 

My memory is awful, but I know I was using my phone as a test and a few minutes ago I brought up Emby on it, and it showed my server and connected to it.  I don't remember if I filled out the manual connection info earlier or not.  

 

Also, I noticed one of the users watched stuff on it yesterday.  I have not heard a word from her.  The person whose house I went to yesterday said 'haven't been able to get on for a while' and another got the PIN verification a week or so ago.

 

I don't know why there is inconsistency.

 

But, please relax, take a break.  That or start charging more for Emby to get some compensation for the endless time you all put into this.

 

I'll try asking around tomorrow and see if I can get word from others if they are having any issue.

 

For another time, what would be a good sure fire test to verify that authenticating with a connect account is working properly with my server - since I seem to not have a clear cut situation - it seems at least.

Since my account did not have the cloud I added it to connect on my server.  I then got the invite and accepted it.  The thing is, I was doing my testing yesterday with someone whose account has a cloud over it.

 

Regardless.  Let's just see what happens and I will get back if something continues to be amiss.  Otherwise sorry for disrupting your evening.
