TomTiddler 39 Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Soon after the update to 3.2.4.0, I added a couple of movies, refreshed the library from metadata manager, cleaned the database, scanned the library, and no sign of the 2 new movies! Checked the file server, they're there, checked everywhere I could in Emby, no sign of them anywhere. Looked in the latest server log, and saw a whole load of unfamiliar errors. Checked a server log from 2 days ago, no problems at all. I've attached 2 server logs, one from today (post 3.2.4.0), and one from midnight on 23rd (pre 3.2.4.0). Both should include a library scan. Love to know what's going on. Emby log today.txt Emby log 23rd.txt
Luke 42086 Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Hi, what does the folder structure look like?
TomTiddler 39 Posted February 25, 2017 Author Posted February 25, 2017 Windows file system, located on Home Server 2011, looks like Movie Name (Year) ----- Movie Name (Year).mkv Next Movie ---- Next Movie name.mkv I've attached a "snapshot" of part of an Explorer window. Should add, nothing changed since yesterday except the Emby server update, and adding 2 new movie folders. I also added 2 yesterday before the update, and they showed up just fine.
TomTiddler 39 Posted February 25, 2017 Author Posted February 25, 2017 (edited) Seemed to lose the snapshot, here's another try. Doh, just realized where the attachment was! Edited February 25, 2017 by TomTiddler
Happy2Play 9785 Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 To me there is going to be conflict in metadata. movie.xml A Most Wanted Man (2014).nfo A Most Wanted Man (2014) - Main feature.nfo
TomTiddler 39 Posted February 25, 2017 Author Posted February 25, 2017 (edited) Yea, there's a few of those left over from an inadequate cleanup. However, neither of the new movies have anything like that. Incidentally, the potential conflict has been there for a while and causes no problems at all. Update: Now removed all the "Main feature" conflicts. - No change. Edited February 25, 2017 by TomTiddler
TomTiddler 39 Posted February 25, 2017 Author Posted February 25, 2017 Another update. There's definitely something wierd going on. Here's what I've done since the last post ...... 1) Because of Happy2Play's comment, I fixed all of the movies that had an outdated "moviename - Main Feature" file. There were in fact several movies that had not been updated. An example was Arbitrage. I changed the name of the movie file from "Arbitrage (2012) - Main Feature. mkv" to "Arbitrage (2012).mkv". I then checked using "Edit info" in the "..." display for the movie, and noticed that the file name still reflected the old name (as expected). Using the same "..." menu, I queued a Refresh on that movie. To my surprise, "Edit info" still showed the old file name (which by the way did not exist any more). 2) I next ran "Clean Database" and then did a Refresh on the whole library via Metadata Manager. Again, after waiting about 15 minutes, and having made sure that there was no activity on the network (so presumably all the metadata had been received), I checked via Edit Info, and it still had the old (non-existent) file name. Viewing the library showed no changes, i.e. no new movies found, all the movies that had been edited to remove the "Main feature" files still referred to the old file names. WTF?? 3) I removed the library; moved the entire sub-tree on the server to a new location; cleaned the database (just to be sure); added a new library referencing the new file server location. Lo and behold, everything is fine again, including the new movies. Hopefully, this will suggest something to you about where the fault may lie. On the face of it, it seems there were 2 issues - not recognizing the presence of new movies, and not responding to changes in existing library files or structures. They're probably related :-)

If you change file names then you have to do a Library scan to get Emby to see the change. 2) I next ran "Clean Database" and then did a Refresh on the whole library via Metadata Manager. Back to number 1 answer 3) I removed the library; moved the entire sub-tree on the server to a new location; cleaned the database (just to be sure); added a new library referencing the new file server location. Well removing the library kicked off a library scan.
TomTiddler 39 Posted February 26, 2017 Author Posted February 26, 2017 Sorry I wasn't precise, when I force Clean Database, I always run Scan Library, in fact the Clean Database is simply to make sure that the Scan Library will start clean. So there were several Scan Library operations here, none of which changed anything, until I did the 3rd step. Should add that I now have an up-to-date library, it just didn't occur by following the usual incantations :-) When I next add something to the library, I'll let you know what happens, but that will probably not be for a couple of weeks, as I'm off to find some sun for a couple of weeks. As always, thanx for the help.
