Starlionblue 82 Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 I'm sure I'm not the first to notice this, but a major update a few weeks ago removed the Emby server. No biggie as I just reinstalled Emby and it poofed back into existence, but still a bit of an irritation. I also had to remember to give the Emby service rights to my NAS by changing the user. And it isn't the first time...
Luke 42086 Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 hi, thanks for the info. if i had to guess, it was probably just the windows service that was affected and not the entire installation.
Starlionblue 82 Posted February 25, 2017 Author Posted February 25, 2017 You are entirely correct. Emby was unscathed. Just the service was KIA.
FrostByte 5392 Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Seen the same thing here over the last couple years. My first Windows 10 installation, the Win10 Anniversary and all the other major upgrades have wiped the service. Installing from the web site fixes it. Not sure what needs to be done for Windows to not delete the service.
Starlionblue 82 Posted February 26, 2017 Author Posted February 26, 2017 This seems to be a known issue: https://www.howtogeek.com/243581/windows-10-may-delete-your-programs-without-asking/ Since it is only for major updates, it is not much of an irritation, but it would be nice if the Emby service could somehow be marked mostly harmless or something. 1
