After this, I'm still confused. Why isn't there a site where I pay a fee, they give me a xml file url to give to Emby to extract guide data from? This is all very complicated imho. 

As @@ebr has said and I'll expand it.

 

If you live in the USA, Canada or United Kingdom Emby has GUIDE DATA built in.  It's the same underlying provider that Schedules Direct uses but Emby has cut out the middle man and give it to you "free" with your Premiere Membership.

 

So if you live in one of these 3 countries there is no reason to look outside of Emby for your Guide Data.

Most seem to be covered by sky using a Belfast postcode
