zigzagtshirt 55 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 (edited) I ran a little test to see what would happen if two users started watching the same movie at the same time. Started the movie on User1 (direct playing). About 30 seconds in I started watching the same movie on User2 (direct streaming due to incompatible audio). Movie played fine on User2 for about 20 seconds or so and then it started stuttering and freezing every few seconds. User1's playback remained perfect. What is the expected behavior of this scenario? Are two users able to watch the same content at the same time? Does direct play/direct streaming/transcoding make any difference? Edited February 23, 2017 by zigzagtshirt

I've tested it on 3 devices playing the same movie w/o issue. Transcoding will obviously make a difference if by doing so you're pegging your CPU.
zigzagtshirt 55 Posted February 23, 2017 Author Posted February 23, 2017 Hm, I wonder why it didn't work out too well for me. I'll run a more robust test and examine logs if it still doesn't work. Thanks for the response. At least I know that it should work if everything is functioning properly.
Luke 42080 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 The best thing to do is please provide the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
Rumbaar 13 Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 I think the source of the file could be a factor too. There might be IO bandwidth issues, like drive speed, CPU processing power, etc.
