scotttobin 1 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Hi I have Emby version 3.2.1.0 running on my Synology DS214se. I had a fair amount of install issues but got it working. One thing I have noticed however is while it loads quickly on my TV, when it comes to playing movies, it just spins and spins and can take sometimes up to 10 minutes to start playing a movie. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks Scott
Luke 42077 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 hi @scottobin, we're sorry to hear about this. In order for us to best help you, please provide the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
scotttobin 1 Posted February 23, 2017 Author Posted February 23, 2017 no errors to report, just spins. Above is issue description. Attached are logs for around that time. log.txt log2.txt log3.txt
Luke 42077 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 The issue is that your transcoding is just not happening fast enough. Notice the frames per second you're getting. frame= 4 fps=0.0 q=0.0 size=N/A time=00:00:00.63 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=1.19x frame= 12 fps=9.2 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:00.95 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.731x frame= 16 fps=8.7 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:01.11 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.608x frame= 20 fps=8.3 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:01.27 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.527x frame= 24 fps=8.0 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:01.43 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.48x frame= 27 fps=7.6 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:01.59 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.451x frame= 30 fps=7.3 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:01.72 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.416x frame= 33 fps=6.8 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:01.81 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.377x frame= 37 fps=6.1 q=25.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.01 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.333x frame= 40 fps=6.0 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.10 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.318x frame= 42 fps=5.5 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.20 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.289x frame= 45 fps=5.5 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.33 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.284x frame= 46 fps=5.1 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.39 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.265x frame= 48 fps=4.9 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.45 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.249x frame= 50 fps=4.6 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.52 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.234x frame= 51 fps=4.5 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.58 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.228x frame= 53 fps=4.3 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.68 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.22x frame= 54 fps=4.2 q=28.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.68 bitrate=N/A dup=1 drop=0 speed=0.209x frame= 55 fps=4.1 q= You really need at least 24fps to be playable. What Emby app are you playing from? for this particular content you may want to stick to Emby apps that can direct play it without transcoding.
scotttobin 1 Posted February 23, 2017 Author Posted February 23, 2017 (edited) not sure i understand but it was stated above. It's a Synology DS214se and connected directly into my network. CPU shows MARVELL Armada 370 88F6707. I am using from Emby app installed on Synology - Version 3.2.1.0 Edited February 23, 2017 by scotttobin
Luke 42077 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 You did not indicate what Emby app you're playing from. If by chance this is the Emby web app, web browsers do not support mpeg4 therefore we have to convert it on the fly, and it looks like your system just can't do that fast enough.
