jjstecchino 8 Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 This is a new install of Emby Version 3.2.1.110 beta on windows. The movie library is reading movies from a SMB share named My Movies and located on a Freenas 10 box. Each movie is in its own directory named with "Title (year)" pattern. Initially each directory contained just the mkv movie files. After adding this library and completing a scan, most movies are duplicated in the library. There is only one copy of the movie in the share, in the library the path of both duplicates point to the same movie file, on the metadata browser there is only one metadata record for each movie. Emby is set to save metadata and images in the movie folder and did that correctly. This is very strange, any help appreciated.
jjstecchino 8 Posted February 19, 2017 Author Posted February 19, 2017 I think it was my bad as I started and interrupted the first scan, than changed to save metadata and images in movie folder. I believe the movies scanned on the first pass are the duplicates. Any easy way to fix this?
Luke 42086 Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Hi, since you interrupted the scan, I would just run it and allow it to finish. let us know if this helps. thanks !
jjstecchino 8 Posted February 19, 2017 Author Posted February 19, 2017 Hi, since you interrupted the scan, I would just run it and allow it to finish. let us know if this helps. thanks ! No re running the scan to completion did not help. I had to delete the movie posters from every duplicated movie, then re run the scan. The good movie, would lose the poster, the duplicate would keep it. Then I deleted all the duplicates and rescanned the good ones. A lot of work but it is done. I truly believe the problem was to run the first scan that kept metadata and images in the database. Then after changing setting to store that info in the movie directory, it created duplicates. Subsequent scans did not detect the duplicates, unfortunately. Maybe you could look at the logic behind. This is something that probably could be improved Thanks for answering
Luke 42086 Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 can you show us examples of the folder structures? screenshots would be great, thanks.

I believe the movies scanned on the first pass are the duplicates. Any easy way to fix this? I see no way to reproduce this. Emby will not get metadata and images for any media it already has it for (unless you perform a Refresh or Identify). So toggling this "Save with media" option on and off has zero effect. As that option only applies to something that does not have metadata or images. Would have to compare the information from a duplicate.
