New to Emby - Looking at best way to set up

Hi Guys,

 

I am new to Emby and have been suggested to use it from a friend, i am currently running a WDEX4 as my server, with it running a DLNA to WDTV Lives.

 

Suggestions on the best way to make this work? Or what i would need to change to get this working?

As far as I am aware, neither of those support the server application or an end point client.

 

You can use the nas to store and serve up media, but you need something on which you can install the server application and then you need an end client to view thingns. Emby provides a browser to access from any device that has a browser. However, my experience 'is the purpose specific end points provide a better/easier user experience. I have used Roku and Apple , and am happy with both. Nvidia shield and fire tv also get a lot of love.

Hi Guys, DLNA works fine with my WDTV just wanting to use this front end client as above stated its cleaner and better media experience, I am happy to by a roku to be able to use the front end client, just need to know if emby is able to access my media via my WDEX4 Server as i cant install the client on the cloud as its not a PC Server, Any thoughts?? Or would i need to build a server PC?

Hey Guys,

 

I think i just found my answer in an old thread, Emby is currently avb on some NAS servers but not WD which sucks! Might need to invest in a PC

No, until now. However, my testing with the DLNA has still not worked through an entire program.

Tried again, still no luck. The content source gets removed (Even after removing my failing HDD, which I was hoping was a cause). Can't for the life of me figure out why it worked until the Emby update that caused it to stop working. O well.
