WEHA 0 Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 I'm new to Emby so bare with me. I searched google & forums for a solution but all I came up with is questions about video files. I have mp4 audio only files which do not get indexed by Emby. Nowhere can I find where to add this extensions. If I rename the files to mp3 it works fine and I can play from them. Doing this however screws up Spotify and then that does not show them anymore. I'd like to know how to add these files to Emby thank you!
Luke 42083 Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 hi @@WEHA yea we currently do not look for mp4 files for music. where did they come from?
WEHA 0 Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 (edited) Hi @Luke I got them from MixCloud Edited February 18, 2017 by WEHA
Luke 42083 Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Ok @@WEHA, we haven't yet added support for mp4 audio-only. We'll have to look at doing that for a future update. thanks !
jsrivard 1 Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 I realize this is a really old post but any update on this topic? I have 5.1 audio in AC3 codec/wrapper format but I'd like to put it into MP4 wrapper so I can easily add tags to the music. Unless anyone knows of a way to add tags to .AC3 files. Thanks.

HI, no update yet, but it's possible for future updates. Can't you add tags to other audio formats though? What about m4a?
jsrivard 1 Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 (edited) Yes, I converted my AC3 audio to a M4A container and Emby via Roku recognizes it as a multi-channel audio and plays it via Dolby Digital 5.1. And yes I am able to add tags to the M4A files. I was struggling to find a program that would batch-convert AC3 audio to M4A. Finally found "FFBatch AV Converter". It works perfectly. Thanks for the info. Edited September 23, 2023 by jsrivard 1
