dayfly 0 Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 (edited) When i use emby for mediacenter running on windows 10 i dont see movies shown as 4K. 4K Movies are shown as 1080P in the Emby WMC App I use Windows Media center on Window 10 running at 2160p 60hz and that works good. is there a fix for this ? are 4K movies played as 4k or are they playing at 1080p with upscaling ? when watching with nvidia shield i have the feeling its more crisp/sharp then on WMC or is there another solution to watch 4k movies with Emby on a windows machine without upscaling. dayfly 0 Posted February 17, 2017 Author Posted February 17, 2017 i tried that but it dosn dosnt run smooth on 4K its very slow playback with shocks and sound is out of sync Other programs like mediaplayer and plex run smooth at 4K. Running on a I5 6700 with a GTX 1050ti. And its missing the option to stretch the screen up and down like Emby WMC has, actually i havent seen any program that has the option to stretch the image without losing part of the image. Will Emby WMC ever be updated ? WMC is still the best mediaplayer for live tv with anysee E30 tuners in my case.
Luke 42077 Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 hi @@dayfly, Emby Theater can handle 4K content. Have you tried changing any of the hardware acceleration settings?
ebr 16169 Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Also, Emby for WMC is just using WMC for playback. So, if you can make WMC play 4k then EMC will support it too.
dayfly 0 Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 @@Luke, yes i tried different options intel quicksync and the other options but still the same its very choppy. @@ebr Windows and WMC both say its 2160p,but why are the 4K movies shown as 1080p in Emby WMC while in example Emby Theater or Plex says they are 4K? Its not getting downscaled and upscaled instead of playing native 4k? They play smooth in WMC only the sound is out of sync by +/-2 seconds and i have the idea that they are less sharp then other players.
ebr 16169 Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 You can't compare WMC to players written 10 years after it . But, WMC just uses the internal capabilities (codecs) you have installed in Windows so it may be theoretically possible to get it to play 4k even though the last time anyone wrote any code for it it probably wasn't even a dream that users would have 4k content. Then, there is always external players.
dayfly 0 Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 I thought Emby for WMC didnt physically run in WMC more like a shell ? 1 of the problems with external players is that they dont support or smoothly play life tv from ziggo and anysee e30 tuners i am happy with the current setup only wondering if Emby for WMC plays native 4K cuzz in Emby WMC 4K movies are shown as 1080p
ebr 16169 Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 EMC runs inside (as a plug-in) Windows Media Center.
