Beta - LiveTV load performance

When using the LiveTV function and selecting a show from the guide, or any other selectors, it takes sometime for the show to actually start playing.  The native HDHR Prime app and Google Local Channels seem to load in a few seconds and allows for switching channels quickly as well.

 

Is there something that can be done to reduce the load time of a TV show and make it more in-line with other apps?

Is it any different than the published channel?

Not noticeably.  It may be a touch slower but comparable.

 

In comparing it to other apps like Kodi, Google Live Channels, and HDHR prime it is considerably slower -- we are talking multiple seconds (excess or 10 or more) to load.  The other apps can load and change channels in 5 or less seconds, I consistently see much less than 5 seconds, almost verging on instant.

 

This is why I was wondering if there is something which can be done to speed up the channel loading and changing.

If your tv source is mpeg2, the Roku does not support that natively, so server transcoding has to get involved. that's why you can't compare to other apps on other devices.
