alexwilson 3 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 After pausing a video in Theater, the sound is often out of sync by up to a second or two. This is not a problem with the source files -- playing (and pausing) the same video -- in the web interface, or VLC, or Windows 10's player -- has no sound sync issues. The problem does show up quite often, but not every time. Sometime manually fast-forwarding or rewinding with get the sound back in sync, but not always. I've been seeing this issue on and off for months, but it's been pretty consistent lately, and it's getting frustrating. Is there some setting I should be looking at or is this a know issue with Theater? 1
Guest asrequested Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 What is your GPU and what are your settings in ET for audio and video? 1
alexwilson 3 Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 What is your GPU and what are your settings in ET for audio and video? Intel HD 4400. Sound output to the TV through HDMI. Right now I've got ET audio set to Reclock and video set to default, though I've tried several permutations over the past few months.

alexwilson 3 Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 Why use Reclock? It's a tough one to configure, well. Like I said, I've tried a few combinations to see if any made a difference. I've set audio back to default -- but both audio and video on default is where they were set when the issue first started up.

I've set audio back to default -- but both audio and video on default is where they were set when the issue first started up. I'm willing to bet that the issue lies with video rendering and/or frame dropping. Can you post a screenshot or list all of your video settings? And what do you have your GPU refresh rate set to?
alexwilson 3 Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 Display adapter is set to 60hz.
Guest asrequested Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Try setting your hardware acceleration to none, video renderer to EVR+, and filter set to edge. And set your GPU refresh to 59Hz
alexwilson 3 Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 Settings all changed, and the problem appears to still be there.
alexwilson 3 Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 As far as I've noticed, yes. Watching shows or longer movies don't lead to a sync issue unless it gets paused.
Guest asrequested Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Are they direct playing? And try again, with DXVA2copyback hardware acceleration enabled.
alexwilson 3 Posted February 19, 2017 Author Posted February 19, 2017 DXVA2copyback seemed like it might have been worse (sound was out of sync right from the start, though fine in another player), though I didn't go back to compare it to the same video I was before with the other settings. Everything is direct playing as far as I can tell.
Robert X. Gonzalez 4 Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 I am experiencing the same thing. It happens infrequently, but when the audio-Desync occurs, usually after a pause and desync usually after about 50 minutes into the movie or program. I have turned off the Intel HW acceleration and back on to no avail. I generally keep all setting at the defaults. Only solution I have now is to wait for the program to re-air and rerecord. I generally do not have an issue after that.

Robert X. Gonzalez 4 Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 (edited) I have the following: Emby Version 3.2.5.0 Intel® HD Graphics 4000 Intel® Core i7-3700 CPU @3.40GHZ Happens sporadically with no indication of an issue until I play a movie and happens in Direct Play mode or through Emby Theater or if I decide to play directly at the server. Attached are screen shots of Transcoder windows, A/V window and Live TV window in my Emby Server. I have seen this occurring for several months, late summer I think. Once the audio sync is off, the movie is not worth watching as it is off like I said for maybe 7 seconds rendering it a little challenging to follow. I can usually rerecord without any issues assuming there is a rebroadcast. Please advise if you need anything else! Robert Oh forgot to add, use ROKU and happens when I use the Beta and standard Emby apps to watch TV. The last movie that this this was recorded on 4 MAR 17 - attach log file detailing this event. Robert X. Gonzalez 4 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Forgive, not sure what to look for in the logs. I see the following type of logs: record-transcode...xxxxxxx.txt server-.......txt ffmpeg.transcode......xxxxxx.txt I use direct play for 95% of the time or more and do not see any logs that may start with play or live etc. The movie National Security I played yesterday in the early afternoon and no other logs that detail this name. I can play directly via the server or emby web interface and scroll to the point where the audio de-syncs, but I do not see logs there. What else can I provide or where else can I look to provide evidence you need?

Robert X. Gonzalez 4 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I only use direct playing to watch videos of any sort to fully enjoy the program as meant by the director and also to utilize capabilties of Emby. I only utilize the theater and emby on the server directly when I am checking the system, otherwise, only use direct play. That said, When I go back to the server and attempt to watch the move at approximate time that the de-sync occurrs, the de-sync occurs at the same time as when I direct play. I also use two different NAS to record and happens on both; a couple of 4TB and 6TB Seagate 2 bay Personal Cloud and a 2 bay 16TB WDMyCloudMirror.

It's automatic. This group is for Emby Theater. If you are having issues in all apps, you should probably repost to the server area.
Guest asrequested Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Something I'm not clear on. Are you having this issue with multiple types of media playback on multiple apps, or is it certain types of media playback on just one app?
Robert X. Gonzalez 4 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I rerecorded the movie today. Plays without further issue, paused stop etc. Both on the Emby web and using Direct Play. Do not understand what causes this occasional hiccup in audio sync.
