Version compatibility?

A problem came up for me over the weekend.  I have an older Roku player with an older version of Emby for Roku.  When opening the libraries, the only ting that would display was the Series/Movie folder artwork.  Once an item was selected, the display would say "It appears this folder is empty".  This happened with TV shows, movies.

 

I have since replaced the Roku hardware and things are working the way they are expected, but the questions came up?  Is there a server/client compatibility list?  Is there a database incompatibility if using an out-of-date client with a specific version of server?  Is there a problem running beta clients with stable server?

 

The Roku seemed to work fine prior to the server updates in the last few weeks.  I had not used this player in about a month, so not exactly sure when the problem started.

 

I am currently running:

Server - 3.2.1

Roku - 2.25

Android - 2.8.19 (Seems to be most stable for me)

Android - 2.8.52 (Few items not working as desired, only installed for evaluation)

Samsung TV - 2.2.1

It should work fine. The best thing to do is please provide the Emby Server log from that time frame. You can learn how to do that here:
