Adding Images for Actors

I'm trying to add some images for actors,  I've done this in the past but the way I did it isn't working anymore....i use to go to their folding in metadata/people, find the actor, add an image an rename it as poster.jpg

then refesh people, scan media library. It would then show up.

 

However the only way I've found to do this now is to use the web app, go to the particular library and find the show, click on the image (or lack thereof), then click the icon for more options and edit images....then click the '+' character and browse to where the image is located and add it.

 

but my question is, what is the proper way of adding images for actors when the metadata scanner doesn't find an image to add?

Yes the proper way is via the Edit Image ui.  Did you Refresh the actor after adding the image directly to the folder?

I didn't try refreshing the actor.  I didn't need to do that when adding an image directly before...maybe it is a requirement now

 

If using the  Edit Image UI is the proper method, I suggest having access to it in the metadata manager so I wouldn't have to load up the web app at all...you have access to it via the tv show or movie your editing, but not for the actors...

I added the actor directly to the folder, refreshed people, then I hit refresh on the actor to see if the image would come up but it didn't. Just wanted to try that to see if it worked,

scratch everything I mentioned in here....i had moved my emby server and was trying to add the posters to the old place where I had the actors, not the new place...haven't tried adding there but figure it will work as it always did before..

I have the same problem when I place poster images in the folders instead of through the webinterface. I have done these test after reading this tread. I have the impression that migrating people information from one server to another doesn't work anymore.

Haven't seen an issue with images, but person.xml metadata is another story.

If you manually add images to the people folders then you will need to run the refresh people scheduled task afterwards.

I do this all the time for arabic titles, after you adding the images, simply goes to the details screen for the title and click on these actors name, back and forth till all the actors are done.

 

Or as Luke said, simply run refresh propel from the task.

Ok, I can cofirm that it is working with the images. But it is not working with the people.xml files. So the problem of migrating people information besides the images is still a problem.
