Heckler 147 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Over the next couple of weeks I will be reorganising all of my files and drives... Taking 90% of it and collating it all on one media centre. I want to move the server to that same system too. If I install the server software on the media centre and do the initial setup... what files (and where are they) would I need to move across to the new server install to ensure everything was the same as it is now? The reason for this is I'm adding another 2x3TB drives to the media centre to replace 2 1.5TB drives, thus giving me 9TB of storage there. I'll be transferring about 4TB of files to them. Which will leave me with about 2.5TB of free space on the MC in total. The office PC which currently runs the server can then be used for it's main function of main desktop and gaming PC and can be shut down each night to save on my electricity bills... It adds up over the year as we are talking about 50% less use and consumption. There will be a few bits and pieces of media on the desktop, but nothing essential... Until I get a larger MC case with more drive bays and a slightly larger PSU so I can add a couple more 3TB drives this reconfig will do for now. So... what's the best way to ensure it all goes smoothly?
CBers 7450 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Have a read of Migrating MB3 Server settings. Not an answer, but might help. 1
Heckler 147 Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 What about the image cache? It would be handy to just copy that across especially as I have a lot of custom images for folders/backdrops... Not to mention images by name... Where should I put them? I'm starting from scratch on the actual server itself, and will see about importing from tackt... Still finishing of moving some files about before configuring the server to it's final settings.
Beardyname 198 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) @@Heckler, if you have the server setup to store the images with the media it wont be a problem *edit* or that's what i "think" test it out before messing up everything ^^ Edited February 6, 2014 by plumblum
Heckler 147 Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 I started from scratch in the end @ @@CBers It took 6hrs for the server to do a scan of media, and even though I have everything stored locally, it's overwritten a lot of images which I'm not very happy about. It's still doing the people refresh after 6hrs... and is only 40% done. I've also gone and lost the folder icons I was using, the clapperboard ones. Need to go searching for them again.
