stevedawg85 2 Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Server specs: i3 4150 @ 3.50 GHz 4 gb ram I VPN back into my home network from my high speed college campus. I wanted to test it Transcoding and came up w/ the following results. Kodi: Configured Emby addon @ 664 kbps SD and use HTTP instead of SMB. CPU usage remains high from 85-95% Emby server (ipaddress:port): I set the same video @ 720 kbps and CPU usage bounces between 30-80% At idle when nothing is running it is between 15-50% Is this normal? Obviously I want to take it easy on my server, so I guess I'll have to start using the emby server if that is true.
Luke 42078 Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 The add-on is capable of providing a better transcoding experience but up to this point that hasn't been the primary focus of the efforts. for example, there are probably situations where it is doing a full transcode when a video stream copy would be enough, things of that nature.
