Mustang Dave 5 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 (edited) Not sure where this belongs...Server or WMC?? Its not a problem actually with Emby for WMC, but a problem with the new Server update this is affecting Emby for WMC... Just updated to the newest Server Version 3.2.0.0 and now my Emby WMC remote machines which are connected running by gigabit hard lines are BUFFERING??? I removed the wireless NW adapter and nothing changed. I am running a dual network, a wireless for the internet (lightning issues with the phone company... don't ask) and physical gigabit for Emby, has been like this for years now. no issues. Now I have even tried running Emby WMC on a wireless connection to the Servers other internal IP and had the same issue even worse. I can get things to play, I just cant advance or rewind without it buffering like crazy or freezing. Everything had been working, I accidendally closed Emby and reopened and it told me the Server needed to restart and I said ok and ever since... Buffer city... I have tried on three different machines. The Server no problem, wireless connection the worse and hard wired somewhat watchable... Those were all I tried at the moment... will try more... Thanks Dave Edited February 7, 2017 by Mustang Dave
Luke 42080 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 That's not even a problem with the server either although I can understand why you might have that perception. With Emby for WMC we pass the direct file path into the WMC video player. Using the direct file path means that Emby Server is not involved with the video playback process. If you provide a WMC and Emby Server log we're happy to confirm this for you. You can learn how to do that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
Mustang Dave 5 Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 (edited) I just find it ironic that all my machines started doing it right after the update restarted and the only machine that doesn't have an issue is the Server. I added various logs based on different trials. I can understand what you are saying, but can you explain why if I play a video across a network path from the Emby Sever on the client just using the windows media player 12, I have no issues at wired or wireless? Would this not technically be the same principal that you described that was being done through Emby? Thanks again... Luke 42080 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 So in your case, the videos are streaming through Emby Server : 2017-02-06 23:49:33.4012,Debug,,Calling MediaCenterEnvironment.PlayMedia: http://10.10.0.1:8096/emby/videos/42f7a743600248d312da63d7a2eb6214/stream.asf?DeviceId=d098b47cc85842fd83becc42ae068476&MediaSourceId=42f7a743600248d312da63d7a2eb6214&VideoCodec=msmpeg4&AudioCodec=wmav2&AudioStreamIndex=1&VideoBitrate=29872000&AudioBitrate=128000&MaxAudioChannels=2&api_key=94f9f19b093c44db84d93d314cb0df76&CopyTimestamps=false&ForceLiveStream=false,1,Application This is happening because the machine running Emby for WMC does not have direct access to this location: F:\My Videos 03\TV Shows 02\TV Shows\Bones (2005)\Season 12 What you want to do is share the path over the network, then go into Emby library setup, click on each of your folder paths, and fill in the optional network path.
Mustang Dave 5 Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 Why would this start? Like I said, everything was working this update.
Luke 42080 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Most of the time streaming through emby server will be fine and you won't notice the difference. Perhaps this is just a video that is the exception to the rule. It is hard to say. Nonetheless, if you follow my suggestion it will never stream through Emby Server and it will play the same was as your windows media player example.
Mustang Dave 5 Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 Ok... Well I am little confused on what you want... I already have this in in setup ,,, F:\My Videos 03\TV Shows 02\TV Shows. Am I suppose to map a drive here? "What you want to do is share the path over the network" I thought we were getting away from the mapped drives?
Mustang Dave 5 Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 Would entering the path substitution option for the F drive work also?
Solution Luke 42080 Posted February 7, 2017 Solution Posted February 7, 2017 Click on the f: folder path in library setup and edit it and enter the network path. when you are done it will look like this The top path is what Emby server will use internally, the bottom path is what apps on other devices will use. 1
Mustang Dave 5 Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 ok.... well.... none of that has never been entered. I do wonder what set it all off now...
Mustang Dave 5 Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 Beautiful... thanks Luke, it works perfectly now. All I need to do now are the others. Thanks for everything.... Hey while I got you, just curious, but any eta with anything with the shortcut situation??
Happy2Play 9782 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 ok.... well.... none of that has never been entered. I do wonder what set it all off now... My guess is cleanup/removal of old substitute path setting that still existed in the system.xml.
