LiveTV resolution issue (m3u)

I guess there are no news on this, right? The solution to manually grab the stream works only if both the audio and the video are on the same stream, but in a case like this one:

https://directes-tv-int.3catdirectes.cat/live-content/canal324-hls/master.m3u8

Having this contents:

#EXTM3U
#EXT-X-INDEPENDENT-SEGMENTS
#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1,BANDWIDTH=1728000,CODECS="avc1.4d001f,mp4a.40.2",RESOLUTION=854x480,AUDIO="audio",SUBTITLES="subs",FRAME-RATE=25.000
bitrate_1.m3u8
#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1,BANDWIDTH=2128000,CODECS="avc1.4d001f,mp4a.40.2",RESOLUTION=1280x720,AUDIO="audio",SUBTITLES="subs",FRAME-RATE=25.000
bitrate_2.m3u8
#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1,BANDWIDTH=4128000,CODECS="avc1.4d0029,mp4a.40.2",RESOLUTION=1920x1080,AUDIO="audio",SUBTITLES="subs",FRAME-RATE=25.000
bitrate_3.m3u8
#EXT-X-MEDIA:TYPE=AUDIO,CHANNELS="2",GROUP-ID="audio",NAME="Català",DEFAULT=YES,AUTOSELECT=YES,LANGUAGE="ca",URI="bitrate_7.m3u8"
#EXT-X-MEDIA:TYPE=AUDIO,CHANNELS="2",GROUP-ID="audio",NAME="Versió Original",DEFAULT=NO,AUTOSELECT=YES,LANGUAGE="qaa",URI="bitrate_8.m3u8"
#EXT-X-MEDIA:TYPE=SUBTITLES,GROUP-ID="subs",NAME="Català",DEFAULT=NO,FORCED=NO,LANGUAGE="ca",URI="bitrate_9.m3u8"

The audio channels are on different streams, and taking a stream like bitrate_7.m3u8 returns only the HD video with no sound.

Will emby, by any chance at some point, properly parse these stream playlist files and allow us to select qualities, based on the playlist file?

We do parse the playlist files, but certain ones get handed off to ffmpeg depending on the complexity of it. When audio and video are separated, then that’s one example of when we do that. It so m will likely require changes to ffmpeg source code to resolve this.

It wouldn’t be possible to show a language/subtitles selector for Live TV either because of that, I guess (?)

That wouldn't necessarily affect it. We use ffprobe to query for media info, so it just depends on whether or not it detects them. If it does then you should see them in the list.
