cw-kid 192 Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Hi Since updating to Kodi v17 When I go in to any of the music library areas its now asking me the following: "Library Update: Music library needs to rescan tags from files, would you like to scan now YES / NO" Is this a native Kodi thing asking to rescan the tags or an Emby add-on thing? I have done a full local DB reset within the Emby add-on which finished OK. Thanks
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 I had the same prompt after kodi 17 install. Since my music library was out of whack on kodi's side at the time, I hit YES and all was fixed in half an hour or so.

Hi I've not noticed issues with the music library in Kodi but perhaps I should be brave and hit the yes button LOL.
cw-kid 192 Posted February 6, 2017 Author Posted February 6, 2017 (edited) I said yes. Now in the notification area in the top right it says: Loading media information from files with a percentage. Under this is the SMB:// path to my music folder on the file server. The Emby add-on is set at default to use plug-in paths and not direct paths. So this is looking like a native Kodi thing. Not sure why its actually doing this or asking to rescan ? EDIT: If I look in Kodi in music -> files I have no source SMB folder set obviously, as its using the Emby add-on. But still seems kinda strange. Edited February 6, 2017 by cw-kid

CharleyVarrick 283 Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 The Emby add-on is set at default to use plug-in paths and not direct paths. Same here
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 BTW, how do you like kodi 17 over v16 At first, I was shocked at how much "busier" it looked, but I'm (slowly) getting used to it
cw-kid 192 Posted February 6, 2017 Author Posted February 6, 2017 BTW, how do you like kodi 17 over v16 At first, I was shocked at how much "busier" it looked, but I'm (slowly) getting used to it I never bothered with Jarvis as the HTPC's were on OpenElec so I was kinda stuck on Isengard. I have only installed v17 on my Windows 10 laptop for testing with Emby. I plan to update all the HTPC's to LibreElec with Krypton etc. I like the new default skin but have a few issues with it see here. I will probably change to an Estuary modded skin at some point. I am using Xperience1080 skin on the HTPCs at the moment still.
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 I like the new default skin but have a few issues with it see here. I will probably change to an Estuary modded skin at some point. Because of my initial reaction to Estuary, I tried Titan within 10 minutes, and got a nice pale blue Kodi window with NOTHING in it (not even settings to get back to Estuary) Had to reinstall kodi for it to default back to a useable skin
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 (edited) On the main living room system, I had to revert back to Confluence skin, partly because of WAF, also because I don't like looking around aimlessly for features/settings I used to find with eyes closed. I really love the splash screen upon starting, kind of a stone effect... Edited February 14, 2017 by jlr19
cw-kid 192 Posted March 19, 2017 Author Posted March 19, 2017 This Kodi Krypton music scan doesnt seem to work on remote Kodi clients. I have the option "Direct Stream music library" turned on in the Emby addon settings so you can play the music library remotely. But the native Kodi request to rescan the metadata agsin from the files just stays on 0% and doesnt progress.

But the native Kodi request to rescan the metadata agsin from the files just stays on 0% and doesnt progress. I don't know if this works under Krypton (I'm still on Jarvis), but the old "trick" with the emby addon was to do the music scan (or full library reset) while on remote connection. Then the addon would populate the library with http(s) paths (if direct streaming was enabled). It was just a convenient side effect that worked for me. It was not intended to be used that way. EDIT: Still works with Kodi 17.1 rc. PM me if you want the details (since it's not supported). Mandatory prerequisite is that you can access your Emby server from internal network using external paths (=while connected to your home LAN can you access your server using the external address recorded on the Emby settings dashboard external Wan address?
