In Emby server, in the left menu under Media, I have all media types like movies, tv shows, music and so on. The last item called Folders puzzled me, I don't get what is its pupose.

For people who want to browse their library as it is actually structured in the file system.  You can turn it off in the Library Display settings.

I "kind of" understand, could you provide me an actual example of what would differ from browing other media branches?

Edit: When I log into the server, I land on Home, where I see all media branches

If I click Folders, again I see all media branches, but with more limited page layout options.

My question is what is gained from going the Folders route?

If you like the way Emby consolidates your media this really isn't for you.  This an option for those that want to browse their content in a fancied up version of Windows explorer.  They have their stuff in a folder structure on disk and that's how they want to see it in Emby.  Most commonly I see it used by people with music collections that are grouped in some way other than by \\share\artist\album\track.mp3.

Just so I understand, could you give an "other way" example?

some people like to see the plain folder views so that's why it's there.

I don't use it, sorry.  I LIKE Emby consolidating my media into Movies\TV\Music views.I looked at it in the past and it just made browsing media harder.  Other folks will have different needs and opinions of course.

Its the same, apart from the top row options. That would appeal to those that complains about landing on the Suggestions tab for instance.

Ok then, I thought I was missing something important B)

Would a useful example be ... having movies sorted into "kids" and "mature people (or whatever)" in a folder structure.

Then you could use the folder structure to browse for the movies that you consider "kids movies" easily?

Or maybe if I had sorted the movies that I had backed up up from blu-ray vs dvd into two folders (perhaps with the intention to upgrade in the future). Then I would know for which movies I had to buy the new high-def versions.

Just trying to think of a reason.  I just have one folder called "Movies" and another called "TV" and so the folder doesn't seem to be of much use to me personally.
