doonze 30 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) So, just for fun I decided to do some codec intros. However, it seems to not be working correctly for me. And it's kinda weird too... I made some videos, named them correctly, and put them in a folder in my movies library. Then set the path in playback. Didn't seem to be working, and left to go do some stuff for a couple of hours. When I came back it was working! However, it was trying to name my intro files as movies, so I moved them into their own folder outside of movies. Cause the "Learn More" says you need to add the folder to your library, I created a new mixed content library with just that folder in it. Did a library scan, set the correct new path in playback, and now it's not working again.... anyone messed with this and have any insights or ideas? Edited February 1, 2017 by doonze
Happy2Play 9781 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Can you post a copy of where it said put them in your library. All I see is Simply create a folder containing the videos, and enter the path in the codec intro field:
Guest asrequested Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) I made a separate folder. Pointed the server at the folder Renamed the files Trailers here BOOM! Edited February 1, 2017 by Doofus

doonze 30 Posted February 1, 2017 Author Posted February 1, 2017 I made a separate folder. Pointed the server at the folder Renamed the files Trailers here BOOM! Yeah, that's exactly what I did.... weird, like it said it WAS working, after awhile, till I moved them now it's not working at all.
Guest asrequested Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Important: Make sure to run a library scan after adding new intro files. Right under where it shows where to enter the path.... That's for custom intros, not codec intros
Happy2Play 9781 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Important: Make sure to run a library scan after adding new intro files. Well that says run a library scan not add them to your library in both sections.
doonze 30 Posted February 1, 2017 Author Posted February 1, 2017 That's for custom intros, not codec intros I figured that was just a mistaken screen shot in the doc, because it's in the section under Codec intros and not the general intros. Hmmm.... confusing

Hmmm.... confusing Yeah, I was just looking at that. I think you're right. Luke and ebr should probably correct that.

Well that says run a library scan not add them to your library in both sections. I guess I inferred they needed to be IN a library for a library scan to make any difference. But maybe it does more than just scan the libraries? I've removed it and trying again.
Guest asrequested Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Would you mind posting some screenshots of your settings?
Happy2Play 9781 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 As for the wiki it was created before Codec intros were added just like the majority of the images in the wiki. I just created a folder, put a dts codec video in it. Put the path in Emby and enabled Cinema mode for movies and performed a library scan. Played a movie with dts and the dts codec video played. 1
Happy2Play 9781 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 I guess they could exist inside your library but they will appear in your library if you do that. They shouldn't have any metadata unless that folder is part of your library.

doonze 30 Posted February 1, 2017 Author Posted February 1, 2017 Turns out once I removed them from a library, it's working perfect again!!! Seemed to work when it was in the movies library, but not another library. But in the movies library it tried to identify them. So, the answer is... they can NOT be in a library. Once I get the intro's looking and working the way I want, I'll share them for those who might want to use them too.

That's why I did. So you're making your own videos? I'd like to see them
doonze 30 Posted February 1, 2017 Author Posted February 1, 2017 I'm using OpenShot and Panzoid Clipmaker 2 to make some, I'll host them on my server and share with the community when I have them to a point I'm happy with them. Quality and resolution are the two things I'm having to sort out right now. I'll let you know!
doonze 30 Posted February 2, 2017 Author Posted February 2, 2017 Ok, here's the start of my codec intro's. I just have H.264 in several flavors, H.265, MPEG4, and AC3 that are my own creations so far. I also have a DST one that is borrowed from here. I'll start a separate post for this, but thought I'd share it here too..... Get them here: Codec Intros PDHMS (Please don't hack my server)
Guest asrequested Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Luke, is there a way he can safely share a library/folder on here, through Emby?
