Subtitle .SRT

Before Emby, I was using Kodi by itself and its built-in subtitle feature.

It offers a choice of subs I picked from, and the sub would appear on screen.

When I navigate in my media folder, I would find the downloaded .srt file next to the mp4/mkv file

I noticed for a while now that the .srt is not present anymore.

Does Emby for Kodi locates those .srt files elsewhere in the system than within related media folder?

@

I am using AddOn Default playback since day one.

I remember around the holidays, my default sub provider (OpenSubtitles.org) stopped working, as it started asking for a user name and password, which I never got to get working.  I then switched to a service called Subscene.com. It worked right "out of the box", in fact better than their predecessor.

@@im85288 Thanks for the link, but I don't have a clue what they're talking about...:wacko::blink:

I would say the answer to your basic question is no, emby does not find the .srt file in any location.  If it is named properly in the folder with the video file it will, but not if it is in some other folder.  I would check on the settings of the subscene addon and see if it saves in a different location.

I did check the subscene addon and it doesnt have any user settings (greyed out). Has any one experienced the opensubtitles suddenly requiring user/pass lately?

I had issues with them about a month ago, I think the api or website was having issues.  Issues both through emby and filebot.  That only lasted a few days though.

I reinstalled opensubtitle.org couple of days ago, and as soon as I requested a subtitle, got the same error about username/password.
