Marv 9 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Hi, not really a big issue but this bothers me for some time now. When starting my Kodi HTPC it is reported with two different names in the server dashboard under 'active devices'. One saying 'Marv-Cinema' (which is the actual name of my HTPC) with the actual Emby for Kodi addon version 2.3.38 The other saying 'Marv-HTPC' (which was the name when I set up the machine like six month ago) with an older Emby for Kodi addon version 2.2.10 So how does it happen that Emby still reports the old name of my machine with an old version of the Emby for Kodi addon? How can I solve this?
im85288 1493 Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Maybe deleting everything in your kodi/temp directory may help. In particular your looking for guiid and emby_guiid files to remove.
Marv 9 Posted February 6, 2017 Author Posted February 6, 2017 (edited) Unfortunately this didn't help aswell There was also just one emby_guiid file present. It just created a new one but still I got both names reported under 'active devices'. What I just recognized is that the 'old' device name just appears for like 5 minutes. After that it vanishes. The 'new' device name ist still present though. Edited February 6, 2017 by Marv
dcrdev 255 Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I cant reproduce this. Has anyone else seen this? Yes: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/44356-addon-is-exporting-multiple-device-names/
the1legend 45 Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I have a master Kodi build that I deployed to three PC's in my house. I was having this issue when I deployed them. I changed the Kodi name in each PC after deploying but both the new name and the test build name were showing up in Emby. I went in to the Emby addon settings and selected generate new ID and rebooted. That is what resolved the two names issue on my systems.

What type of connection are you using, Emby Connect, manual, server detection? I'm using manual connection.

Also tried that as it's happened to me before, however this time around it is getting added every time Kodi starts up. I have tried generating a new device id, using a custom name etc... Worth noting that if you delete the duplicate whilst Kodi is running, it does not come back. However the second entry reappears every time Kodi starts up.
Marv 9 Posted March 16, 2017 Author Posted March 16, 2017 The issue still persists for me. Is there a solution for this?
