Collections Problem

Hi All

Running 3.1.5.0 (although this has been a problem for me for sometime now)

I have 253 movie collections but the artwork for them in the web client won't populate, only 2 are displaying the artwork. If I try to advance to the 2nd page (displaying 100 per page) it just sits there spinning the busy circle and never actually changes. I also can;t access the menu by clicking on the 3 dots for any of them. And after trying to do so the server become unresponsive and required hard refreshes to navigate around, and a restart is required to get it back to normal. And I also can't access any of them to play anything.

I've run the manual refresh of the Auto box set plug in several times.

Emby Theater shows all 253 of the collection, but no artwork on all but a couple of them. Also seems to cause the same issue as above and a restart is required of the server. (on a side note Trailers doesn't work in ET either but does everywhere else)

What is weird is my main viewing machine is EMC (3.0.307.0) , and it see's all the artwork for all 253 collections no problem and accessing/playing any content is no issue at all.

Any ideas ?

I would suggest deleting the collections that are doing this and then creating them again (or allowing autobox set to do it).

Thanks Luke

Is the best way to do this by just emptying the \AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\data\collections folder ?

Yes, that would remove your Collection.

Or just use the web app delete function.

Ok, delete all my collections in that folder and they have been recreated.

Still issues though, of the 252 collections, only 29 of them have fetched the folder artwork (looking directly in collections directory)

When I use the web app to view collections, it sees all 252 of them but NO artwork is shown at all, even for the 29 of them that have it, number of items is shown for each collection, or ticked if watched. I cant enter any of them, edit any of them or try to go to the next page of them. I just get the infinite spinning busy circle. Even if I go back to the dashboard (if it lets me, often a server restart is needed) the circle keeps on spinning until I do a refresh.

I've done several full library scans and tried doing a top level refresh from metadata manager to no avail.

Anything else I can try ?

Cheers

Sounds vaguely like something that happens to me every so often - I found removing the Cover Art plug-in fixed it for me. Obviously if you don't have that plug-in this comment is unlikely to help much.....

Hey arrbee99

I got rid of the coverart.dll and now it works like a charm, all the artwork populated as I browsed through it and all is working as it should.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Now to put it back and find out what's the issue. I can only assume I had something applying to collections... I'll try not touching them.

Cheers

Edit.. Update

Turned off the treatments for Collections and working like a charm.

That's good to know. Might give CoverArt another go, haven't bothered for a while - I quite like the coloured bars that got added under the posters and not sure if I want coloured bars AND CoverArt. Decisions decisions...

Thanks for the Coverart clue! I have been having FITS with my system lately. Everytime I would go to collections, it wouldn't load the pic's, if I clicked on anything from that point forward it would just show the spinning circle.. exit browser, start again, everything worked but the Collections. Tried everything, uninstalling/reinstalling etc.

Is the Coverart dev aware of this problem?

OH.. tried to put Coverart back.. went back to the same problem..

The real question is why would it affect your server and not mine?  Everyones systems are not created equal.

Good question, I haven't  a clue, but it was working for months, then this problem sprung up.

Thanks, had to dig around but found that you had to change the treatment to Ignore on Boxsets and now it all works again..

I tired a whole lot of different covers for collections and they all had the same effect, so it seems it's all the treatments.

I tried the beta of Coverart and it doesn't show any of the covers for collections, only the names. Tried to apply anyway and it would actually cause the server to shut itself down.

Went back to release version. I can live with plain vanilla collections for the time being.

Same issue here, no problem.

I can see this being a one time issues if you are new to Cover Art, but all the images are cached once created.  So I can't see how this would be a continues issue.

Also Cover Art does not get images, it only treats the images provided.  So if you are missing images then it is a server issues not a plugin issue.

Looking at dates of images in the cache/image folder, how often are these images replace?  Is it every 30 days as mentioned in another cache topic?

Good day,

Sometimes deleting the folder "enhanced-images" at cache/image folder could solve many image related coverart issue.

Regarding "new users" install problem, I can not agree on that, since from time to time I do fresh install on vm for emby server, some times as test, and it work fine (coverart plugin) as example.

The problem that within the emby server with coverart regarding updating matters, and been solved from time to time from Luke updating some issue for CA.

My best

I guess I should say the power of the machine Emby and the plugin are being installed on.  As there are a lot of topics with performance issues.

That true buddy, coverart demand some power in some cases.

I'd made a post in the plug-ins thread so it could come to the attention of ebr.

So I cleared all my logs out so I could make some nice fresh logs of doing a repetitive run with and without coverart applied to collections and now the bloody thing is working fine with treatments applied !!!

I did nothing different at all.

Bloody computers !!!   :)
