I'm sure this has been addressed but I can't find the right search term to find the threads on it.

All my movies have Folder and Back covers from my scanned Blu-ray and DVD covers. On the server/web site viewing the covers are alternatively squished (no idea what the dimension is) or stretched (to movie poster size I assume) and emby theater they are all squished.   I noticed this when the new server/web model launched but it displayed correct aspect ratio in Windows Media Center so I didn't worry about it.  I dropped off for a while after a rebuild and am playing with the latest install and cant' find out if it is possible to get the images to display in the correct aspect ratio in either the web or Emby theater.

Is there a setting or something I can adjust to make the movie cover browsing appear in the right aspect ratio (like I see in MCE)?

Hi,

I wanted to report the same problem.

I have recorded the movies on my PC from the (german and english) TV in mp4 format (mpg-file extension).

Many pictures tend to appear too small:

See attached file...

Thanks

Oh, I'm very sorry, I thought I did:-(

Oh, I think, I forgot to press the "attach This File" button

Here it is now! post-298388-0-95180500-1524514031_thumb.png

A question:

If I click on "Add to Post" is it uploaded twice?

Or am I done also without the "add to Post", just attach the file?

Thanks

are those images really your movie covers?

Thanks for the Hint "Chief Bottle washer"!

@Bazinga: What do you mean by "my movie covers"?

This is what I've been shown after Emby has found the movies on my HDD.

These are movies I recorded from TV.

Is that the reason?

Thanks

Possibly. You could try using the identify feature to see if that pull in better images from the internet.

To do this go to the detail screen of a movie, click the 3 dot menu, then identify.

When Emby can’t find a cover for your video it will create a screen cap from the video as your cover (this is actually a setting that you can change; I am not sure of the default).

The resolution of the screen cap will have a ratio that is wider than it is taller (hence the reason why your images are squashed). There are different ways to view your library; I forget the name but there is another view that will allow you to see the cover in its proper form (but that means your videos with proper covers will look smaller).

OK, I see.

Thanks for the hints.

I already changed some images I could find and they look indeed normally...

And I need to find out the point mentioned by the "advanced Member"..

Hi, there aren't any settings for the home screen to change the display styles but if you drill into the various list screens, often you can change the view settings to make it look a little better.

But getting better movie images would be the best approach. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
